Good work Imnotworthy

We replaced the other rad hose. It is such a pain to keep the pipe from sliding back so that you can get the hose on. It is on now, and a lot tighter than the old one. Hopefully there won't be another puddle under it in the morning! :angry2:

Have you thrown it in the bin yet?? If not do you mind holding on to it for a bit chinky chinky

Yes, but I can probably still save it. Do you want the NS one as well?

Cheers. :)

Yeah, I want that trailer too! Doors on both sides. thumbsup Too bad I can't even drive with it due to the weight. :angry2: Had to borrow the trailer, a tow vehicle, and a driver. Funny thing is I haven't worked on the car at all since I got it home.

Big thanks to rsg for coming over and helping my put both door seals on! Imnotworthy I ended up leaving the car for 2 weeks after I brought it home. I fired it up on Wednesday and drove it around the estate a bit. It was nice to have it out in the sunlight for once. It doesn't seem to be leaking coolant any more, but the level still drops a bit after the thermostat opens. Hopefully it is just air in the system, time will tell. The brakes still aren't great, but I have not been able to bed them in so that is probably making the air in the system feel worse than it really is. I also have not been able to trigger the ABS yet, and that would probably help get the air out. At least the car stops before the pedal hits the floor now. I prepped the doors for the big doorcards to go on. However, it will take more scrubbing to clean up the driver's door card. The passenger's door card is on now, as are both inside window seals. I now have a new driver's outside door seal but I need to clean the windows before those go on. The problem is that the window won't go all the way up on the 2nd hand driver's door that I bought. Need to sort that out. :angry2: It would also be nice to tweak the alignment of the passenger's window. Can I do that with the door card on? It is not far off so not the end of the world if I have to leave it for now. The doorcard won't go on the driver's door until I sort the regulator. (By doorcards I do not mean the silver inserts.) As mentioned rsg and I got the door seals on. New front and rear from B&C. Fit perfectly, you do need to trim about 4" off each end of the rear seal but that looks intentional. Do be careful how you run the rear seals or they won't seal against the door. I may go back and splodge down the front corners a little bit more, but they look really good as-is. I plan to keep fiddling with the interior this month. However, I have not even started on the IVA application. Now that summer is gone there isn't much of a rush. Also, the test and other costs to put the car on the road after it is done are pushing £1,500 including geo, tax and insurance. I could use a couple more paychecks before I have to spend all of that.

I cleaned the window, put the outer window seal and the little black triangle on the inside of the mirror on the passenger's door today. This means that except for the door insert and the triangle behind the inside door lever, which both need to be painted or covered, the passenger's door is pretty much done. I just need to sort out what washers go on the long bolt at the back of the door panel and I can put the shoulder pad on. I didn't do much with the driver's door because the window does not go up all the way. However, I did find the cause of the problem. When Vocky and I put the mirrors on we knowingly used the wrong bolt in the lower rear of the 3 positions, and the bolt head blocks the plastic slider that holds the window to the guide rail. Not a big deal to sort, but I didn't try to do it today. The good news is that it is not a problem with the 2nd hand door that I bought. thumbsup I cleaned the rear mudguards, which were . . . wait for it . . . really muddy! :D I am going to look for some forever black or something for them before I put them back on. I also need to check the holes at the top are in decent shape, it was a nightmare getting those screws out. I also checked the door seals today and they are still perfect. thumbsup

Cheers. Hopefully I can get the car finished and on the road within 3 months, and then I can start on the ITBs. I'm not exactly spending a lot of time on it lately.

OK, did a few more bits yesterday and today with the nice weather. Mudguards now on, plus little endplates for the dash, and the driver's window seals. I fixed the mirror where it was blocking the window going up. Then I was able to clean the window and finally put the outer seal on. I also test fit the sill covers. I am a bit surprised that the new OE sill requires 2 holes drilling in it for the sill cover. Not the end of the world though. Both sills would require opening up to use the turbo coin trays, so I plan to fix my NA sill cover with hot glue and use that for now. I also spent some time sorting out my spare bits. If I can get the front arch liners on (coolant leak seems to be sorted) then I could get into the car without having to unload parts first. Ooops, just remembered that I still need to stamp in the VIN.

OK, nothing to report other than I have done nothing for a month now. It's so bad that there are cobwebs between the rafters and the car. Now hoping to have it finished and on the road in March, but not sure at this rate. Almost forgotten that I own a VX. :P
