I cant seem to find fairly priced insurance for the vx i'm about to buy! I'm sure it would be of use to more than just me if current VX owners gave an idea of the insurance they pay..? If anyone is willing to share the info, post below! As well as the company you use and the price you pay it would be handy to state your level of cover and age, NCB, and location. Marco

Cheapest insurance by far i have found is Esure. (www.esure.co.uk) Both for my VX and my wifes omega. £380 fully comp. (full no claims and fairly old!)

The best deal I could get was with Admiral: 1159 (owch!) for 10 months NCB accelerator. That's for Chichester, 3 points, one recent no fault bang, and one year of NCB. Oh yeah, and I am 26. Not bad - will drop to about 500 when I am age 30, 5 years NCB and clean licence.

I'm 24 live in south essex and pay 900 quid a year for mine with elephant.co.uk. That's with 6 years ncb and no points Problem is, i've started to get into track days and it doesn't cover them! I have to pay 55 quid to another insurance company when I want to take it on the track. I only plan to do 4 or 5 track days in a year so I spose it's ok.

Theres a table of insurance prices at the old Forum to give you a rough idea of what some of us are paying. Ian - can we create a similar table on this site rather than having loads of posts? Regards, John. Ps. I pay 700 with direct line - i'm 31 and the wife is 26

Tesco, Egg and Direct Line are usually pretty reasonable, although adding and declaring mods on the car bumps the premium up a fair bit.

I went with Vauxhall to. Got a feeling they are underwritten by Direct line 'cause the web pages and Q's were all identical. All in all, £650, Business cover for both me & wife, 31 / 36 full NCB and no points. Cw

What annoyed me is having to pay an extra £100 for owning a hard top! I would have thought that a hard top would be harder to slash through than a soft top, but it comes under the category of a factory approved modification. Scumbags - all insurers.

I too had a good quote from elephant.co.uk. Last year though they quoted me twice as much for my MR2 than my current insurer (EagleStar) did. It seems that holding my license for 1 year longer made all the difference! Be careful though. The quote they initially give you is their 'Bonus Accelerator' package which only runs for ten moths instead of twelve so bear in mind that they are inherently 17% cheaper when comparing with other insurers.
