As per normal the Germans got there first, but here come the Brits, better late than never.

Many months ago I'd spotted the vents on the Edel site, but thought they were just a bit big, so decided to make my own.
After all, in the best Top Gear tradition, "how hard could it be?"

MSV Racing supplied me with two thirds of a lower front clam, which I used as a base to form the vents. Much use of balsa foam and filler later I had a pair of masters from which I took a mould and ultimately the vents ready for fitting

The really scarey bit is cutting large holes in a perfectly good clam, God bless Dremmel,
Posted Image
You always wondered what was behind this bit didn't you?

Bonded in with epoxy, filled and sanded, ready to paint, grills temporarily in place

Back from the paint shop :)

The ironic thing is that it took me so long to make these effing things , Edel in the meantime had redesigned theirs to be practically identical to what I wanted in the first place :o

Next job is to run the ducting to the disks, but that's a story for another day ;)

The end product isn't for me at all - doesn't look right/go with the rest of the car to me (the cut-outs look too big, and the design of the sloped inner edge is too smooth/curvy/repmobile/finished to go with the squareness and randomness of the VX; I think they would look better smaller and without the sloping, if you have to do them at all), but I do admire your creativity and workmanship (and the fact that you could cut holes in the clam!) I quite like it thumbsup think it actually goes quite well with the car, follows the lines from the bonnet and the headlamps.

Nice work there fella not for me thou If it works and gets you stopping better then fair play I kinda like the front of the VX I don't often get to see it in the rear view mirror but I'm sure this would cool in a kinda ABBA eurovision type way :gayfight: But ........ it's very cool to be different so I think I like it ( I like silver it's my second best colour) chinky chinky
