8:43 BTG with passenger at beginning of July. Last time I will ever go there having found out how much trouble you can get into when the German's see it as a public road and therefore insurance is mandatory and my insurance company see it as a race track and don't cover me. Glad I didn't hit anything; writing of a GT3 and injuring the driver would have ruined me.

I was at the ring very recently and taking lap times to a local and a veteran of the ring he laughed about it, if you are not in a car insured in Germany then you are really taking big risks, ok if you are driving at 7/10's but it becomes seriously expensive at the ring if things go horribly wrong as Cliffie states in a previous post. Having hit the armco at Spa last year and paid 560 euro for priviledge I can relate to what Cliffie has said, be careful and all these tenths of seconds you save, what are you going to do with them? Cheers Ian

Agreed, I actually didn't go any faster than last year during this years fun, however I did achive similar laps times without pushing at all, I decided the fun is in getting corners right not the lap times, wasn't flatout on any of the straights and well within the limits on the corners, just being smoother and knowing the track a little better made me much faster with less risk.

Sooo many threads and pm's to read lol - but I am back :P Well it was at the beginning of my trip so not been stupid and did a 8min 12 BTG but did manage a 156mph speedo reading (154mph gps) not sure I will go that much quicker as it felt proper quick and not willing to drive some of the corners flat out even though the car can. Oh and not pushing that late braking too much lol Would love to see what the car could do in the right hands, maybe no me in the passenger seat though :D DG

Man that's fast! I can manage 7min 25 BTG on Grand Turismo and thats without the impending fear of death and no traffic at all. You got any video footage?, would like to see what lines you take through the Pflanzgarten complex.

How many laps have you done to get that time?

My friend may have some following in his track tweaked CSL but never got any myself :( my mount does not work in the vx (big suction mount) and they are funny about recording now. Fear if I was recording it would bring out the crazy in me lol, bad enough knowing my passenger was timing If I go back in September I will make sure I get some and maybe push on a bit more as I will not have another 3K to drive around Europe after lol I kind of know the track quite well (as well as 120 laps shows you lol) so it may not be the best lines for everyone in all cars but use a lot more of the track on the blind corners which really helps to keep the speed up. Vx seems to like a few different lines than in the CSL and always feels like it wants to hurt me when I take the pee :D so 4 wheel drifts to the min! Started with the CSL training guide t the ring for lines and just tweaked from there to suit my own style / lower level of skill DG
