Not a dealer, but I picked up a VXT from Adrian Blyth last week. They specialise in Sports Cars and the showroom can only be described as a sweet shop for us lads :)

The presentation of their cars can only be described as immaculate and instills confidence from the outset. Worth a look: website link

It's a shame they don't realise near and off side tyres run at the same pressure or how to operate a telephone :beat:

Lookers Vauxhall in Star City Birmingham, is still providing the sort of service that most people thought had long gone, the purchase went through well but since then a serious lack of communication from the salespeople, still waiting for info and spare key/alarm which was apparently lost along with service book, torq splits for hard top removal and it appears my phone number etc etc. Still spending time chasing them up on a regular basis including an appointment for some remedial work, and very disappointed with the dealer. Next years (Mar 06) upgrade to a turbo will be somewhere else !!!!!!

Autovision in Inverness (in the Scottish highlands B) )

Just a quick note to say a big thanks to John (dealer manager) and Donald (service manager) for the help with repairing my car when I had a minor suspension mis-hap.

Corsa (1.2 B) ) was supplied straight away (instead of after 24 hours) and I was kept informed of the work all the way through. Car broke on Friday and was ready for collection on Wednesday which is not a bad turn around.

John seemed very knowledgeable about the car, even through they only service 3 on a regular basis. Service desk staff were their normal surely self, but overall it was a much nicer experience than using my normal Glasgow dealership.

Only fly in the oinment was they set the rear offside tyre to 34 PSI :beat:

I would like to warn VX220 owners about using Lance Owen at Heathrow. It's been abit of a saga but I had the brakes replaced under Network Q - The masterfit johnny replaced them but took 2 hours to replace the rear because he couldn't get the old ones off. After waiting for over 90 minutes the car was handed over to me I carried out an inspection of the car and found they had spanked the offside rear graphite alloy. I complained to the service manager and he said he would get it replaced. Whats' wrong with that you may ask, this was four months ago and numerous phone calls and empty promises I am still waiting. And there's more. I entrusted my beloved VX into Lance Owen again in September (I know, I should have learned but I work nearby) to have the coolant warning light checked out as it was coming on intemittently. I collected the car later that day and they had fixed the light. However, as I drove away I thought the mechanic had left a bag of spanners in the engine. There was an awful knocking and a grinding coming from the gerabox side of the engine compartment. I took it back immediately and took out one of the so called specialist vx220 fitters he didn't have a clue as to what was wrong. It took them nearly 2 weeks to discover that an engine mounting had snapped. I presume it must take some 'spirited' test driving to break one of those...... Anybody know a good Vauxhall VX specialist dealer out West London as Lance Owen are off my Christmas card list. Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year to you all

Well, I don't know if it will work for you (or me again) but the last 2 trips to Burnham Garage in Slough for warranty work + odds & sods have gone very well. These included front clam off for leaky radiator replacement, front hatch catch, rattly door and mirror, etc etc. Everything was fixed properly and without issue. On the first visit they had loosened / moved some gravel in the undertray which I must have picked up somewhere - spin at Snetterton I guess - and when I complained about the loose slithering sound they whipped it back in and drained it out. They have a Pacific Asian looking chap of middle years and some solidity who seems to take charge when the going got tough. I thought he seemed very competent. But they do keep the customers apart from the techies if they can. You pays your money and (sometimes) you rue the day. I can't absolutely recommend these guys but at the moment they have been doing Ok for me. Regards - Ian

Both West End (Staples Corner) and Evans Halshaw (Hemel Hempstead) show a total lack of interest. I wanted info on servicing and modifications and neither could be bothered to give me the time of day. Avoid!! Motorbodies in Luton on the other hand are nothing other than helpful in my experience.

Must agree with attitude of Evans Halshaw (Hemel Hempstead). My radiatior burst (2nd time in 2 years) and they were initially very helpful in getting it in straight away and having it dropped off to my flat next day, even though its 15miles away. But they cracked the front clam and side sill and didn't refit the wheel arches properly so they're both shredded from the front tyres! Monnkey at the desk was not interested at all in trying to fix it, so I'm still trying to get hold of the monkey in charge, thay are terrible at returning phone calls....

Nidd Vale Vauxhall - Harrogate 1st visit for 20k service, replace rear pads, fix faulty dashboard control knob. Horrible service - car 'finished' 2 1/2 hours later than promised. Heater knob not looked at. Greasy marks all over near side front wing. Made some noise with Wayne - service manager. Re-booked....... 2nd visit - for warranty replacement of vacuum pipes, control knob issue. Much better - car completed on time. Dial fixed at no extra cost (covered under time allowed for warranty work), £10 of fuel put in the car. Both windows left down an inch overnight by mechanics - both sills swimming on picking car up. Not professional. Overall - would probably go back as alternative - Sticker Lane, Bradford - has poor feedback on this site. Not completely happy though. Regards Tim

Just had an irate phone call from the guy in charge who I referred to as the 'monkey in charge'. One of his customers printed off this page and took it in to show him!

Must make formal apology for calling him 'monkey in charge', especially seeing as he then threatened to not fix my car, but backed down after I apologised to him.

Could the person who printed this page out and showed it to him in the first place please print out this comment and report back to him. Thank you.

In all fairness he was the most helpful person of the lot, his name is Peter Giorgio, and probably didn't deserve the comment, we all get a bit angry sometimes, and I think I've done well not to get too incensed about the whole affair...

Thorney
I live in Wilmslow in Cheshire and my nearest dealer is Grimshaws in Manchester. They are great. :) Malcolm Taylor is very knowledgeable about the VX. All the info he has given me has been spot on. They've also always given me a VX as the courtesy car :D
Their techy seems OK and does a good job. No complaints what so ever :D

Any one got a number for this garage or an address?

Reg Vardy vauxhall dealership in gateshead, lousy. I'll try to be brief, but the list is long... When we first got the car: We were meant to get 2 keys, we got one, then complained, they ordered a new one, 3 weeks later we rang, they said "What key?" The speedo clearly said the wrong speed, idle speed was also off There was a paint chip we asked them to fix, they "forgot", when they did fix it, I got the impression the salesman had done it The softtop was a mess and looks like it was not a standard vx roof, they've attempted repairs, which don't look any better The battery terminals were severely corroded Part of the dash was hanging off The radio they fitted was hanging out, although it was new, they couldn't give us a manual for it Unknown to us, there was a tracker, which didn't work and so drained the battery The engine mounts needed replacing After we got it When they fixed the roof for a leak they had it for a week, because they left it outside and it got wet :beat: While in for the roof repair they left the bonnet loose, so it started flapping around on the way home Went in to stop the radio hanging out, due to the radio being fitted badly, £70 to fix, when told they fitted the radio, they said, ok, £50 instead! I'm sure I've missed things, you get the idea though. On the plus side, Bristol Street Vauxhall is just across the river in Newcastle, they're really good. thumbsup

Yeah, but you love driving it though... ;)

Bristol St were OK when I dealt with them. Is Reg Vardy the one out towards Netto/McDonalds?

If you're around G'heed, can I recommend the roads out Beamish way for a quick drive? Sainsbury's roundabout at the end of the Team Valley, head right, signed 'Lady Park', can be quite good fun. It used to be the nearest place to Bensham to give the VX (and the GF's bro's 172) a reasonable ragging. Until we went back to GF's parents via Hartside, not great pic but fcuking amazing road

(sure you'll know it being from the NE!! ;) )

As usual it appears all the South East dealers are cr*p. We aren't all merchant bankers (soory guys) so why do they treat us like it? Please someone tell me there is a good dealer in the home counties somewhere?

Never use Evans Halshaw in Wolverhampton :9mm: I've gone through my reasons in various other threads, but in summary they are lying cowboys (I'm sure they wouldn't even contest that themselves, as they have actually admitted lying to me and sticking my car back together with sellotape)
