I was just thinking it might be useful to have a single thread with details of all the various product integrity issues / recalls / optional improvments whatever they are called: Would be good to have the official GM reference number and details of affected VINs. Here's the issues I've picked up: * Timing Chain / Belt VIN range: 1N000145 - 1N001492 ? others too?? Product integrity rework ref 03P24-06/2003 * Airbag VIN range: Ref: * ABS brakes on NA VIN range: Ref: * Front brake caliper bolts VIN range: Ref: Any others? Any kind dealers care to fill in the blanks... Cheers, James

Hi, I don't think that the ABS was the subject of a recall. IIRC it was "Do it if the customer asks for it". Steve

Evening All, This is an interesting topic. My car comes within this range 2N003489 - registered in May 03 though. I've had the Airbag changed (eventually !!) through a recall letter. I read that you can check that the ABS has been done if it has a white dot somewhere - think it was the black box on the left (as you stand at the front of the car) in the bonnet (front). Mine hasn't got this, so am assuming it hasn't been done. How do you know whether the Brake Caliper has been checked ? As I've just taken mine in for the airbag, you think they would have done the other things mentioned above at the same time - and tell me. If I phone the local garage, can they tell me over the phone if all the jobs have been completed. You would think that they would do these jobs before selling the car as well. Many thanks. Woody

Woody, yes afaik the relevant bit of the car will have a blob of paint as a telltale if the work's been done. But wouldn't it be nice to have a piece of paper confirming it too! :poke:

Don't think seat runners are the subject of a recall. Just that some seem to wear more than others Paul

I'm on my third airbag now - I wouldn't mind if I'd had any use out of the first two....

I have had problem with the driver seat from new 09/03 N/A, there about 5mm play, Taken it back to Motorbodies, Luton and they replaced the runners twice but cannot fix the problem. I understand that the Turbo are ok but this only refers to N/A. Vauxhall are aware of the problem and confirmed this is a design fault but due to small number of complaints. They are not prepared to redesign the runner as advised by my dealer. What do you do?

Oh, and VOSA has a list of > official recalls < for all UK manufacturers - 2 are listed for the VX220 (the airbag and the calipers). The Elise has 8.

Is that VX customer services? What do you need to tell them - your VIN or just your registration number?

No, it's a special department. Best if you can give your VIN/Chassis no. and reg. If the car has ever had a different reg, would be useful to know that too. Mine was only listed under the original reg'.

Always worth keeping this near the top in view of a recent thread... Having purchased my car from a VX dealer I'd wrongly assumed the recalls had all been done, but I need to get the Timing Chain one :o
