NSAID's are apparently easier on the stomach, but when used for some time, fu*ck up alll the liver+pancreatic enzymes....so there it goes... malabsorption...bloating, headaches.... and still erasing the symptom, while not addressing the cause... :P

Ricky, you might find this quote from Courtenay about the D–M 'charger interesting:

"The result is 200 bhp and 199 lbft of torque, however this was achieved in Switzerland on a standard exhaust system, air box and 95 octane fuel. This was to keep within the Swiss Opel chassis homologation. Cars in the uk with a free flowing exhaust and 98 octane fuel can expect to see 220+ bhp." B)

a guy on the vauxhall sports car club site has had the first supercharger done by courtney...he emailed the result....he has had an exhaust and a couple of other bits done and the car has over 220bhp/205lbft from his na!

How odd to go around being on the VSCC and not on here.

I've asked Jon for some further details and a road test of their demonstrator so I can write a report.

Spoke with Felix Wyder, the boss of Delta-Motor, today.

He says since I test drove it last August, they have improved it further (and I thought it was good then). B)

The figures are 270Nm torque across a very wide range. For "official" purposes 200bhp ( to get it homolgated in Switz.) – but actually see 210-215bhp.

I discussed pistons and con-rods with him. He agrees that forged would be good but it is not necessary for a road car with track days. If it were a full-on racing car, then he could see the point. He is convinced their modded system will hold together – they have already done 10 cars and the oldest is more than two years ago now.

I argued that, if they don't have to mod the existing parts and supply a special thicker gasket, then it is actually less work for them - only the cost of new rods and pistons to set off against the reduced labour. He says they can supply con rods (US source) and still offer a guarantee. Pistons he's not so sure about – he's aware of Ricky's delivery problems and would not be happy about guaranteeing stuff from a (for him) unknown supplier.

My brother, who is a highly experienced graduate mechanical engineer, working for Sulzer Turbos, says that the thick gasket solution is not likely to be a problem if it's done properly with the surfaces annealed – should be fine.

So, next step is to get a breakdown of the cost of the various options and a written confirmation that the guarantee will still be valid with forged con-rods. I'm really tempted to go for the con-rods and thick gasket. First advantage is that car can be put back to standard compression by simply swopping the head gasket and second is that I can use the saved cash towards the Oehlins suspension. If the price difference is too unreasonable for the forged rods, I may yet go for the standard packet and rely on the one year guarantee which can be extended for one Swiss franc per day...

FW told me that they've just lent out a supercharged Speedster to the respected Swiss car weekly, "Auto Revue". They have done a comparison with the VXT and the Elise 111R. Should be published some time soon. He said that they were most impressed with the torque of the supercharger – better than the standard VXT, but couldn't say more. I will report on this test when I get it. :)

I agree with that...I use mine MOSTLY (90%) on track, hence the piston choice...plus the 150/200 grams saved on a moving part like a piston, will make a nice difference on engine spooling up..... B)

hopefully the parts will show up sometime.... :(
....first it was mantapart, now the german customs are holding it since march 10..... ARGH!!!  :9mm:

Me too – road mileage is mostly en route to track.

Hardest use certainly on track. As I say, if I get the standard package, I will want a written guarantee that ther standard system will hold.

What is the German custom's problem? :beat: Have Mantaparts got a German cousin in the department? :P

11,000 Swiss francs

+ Fr 400.00 per year for guarantee (excluding any track usage)

+ about Fr 700.00 if you need it registered in Switz.

about the delta kit, is there any report on the german forum?!? Felix keeps telling me they are selling BATCHES of kits to germany, so I'd assume that AT LEAST one owner would report on the german forum.... ...or is the same old tactic for making your product look precious and desirable?!? ;) I am planning to drive to delta on thur. to pick the kit up, IF they have one ready by then....

There's a couple on the german forum who have the 'charger and say definitely 200+bhp. Not much more info on long-term experience.

Good luck at D-M! I've been waiting two weeks for a simple quote to do the 'charger with forged con-rods which FW told me they had. (For pistons he would have to look).

'Phoned them again today, as they know I wanted it done soon. FW declined to come to the phone but the message was, "We haven't got any forged con-rods (in contrast to what he emailed me before) and don't know where to look." !!! I told them that there are Swiss manufacturers – gave them name, details and phone number. They will "get back to me". I'm not impressed!

In fact, I must admit I am getting p*ssed off with this disinterest by D-M in accommodating any additional requests from customers. FW was moaning to me about how he didn't have time to answer all the emails you send him with every little detail too, Ricky. I think they've got enough business without having to make an effort – I don't think he's bluffing when he says they're making batches of them.

And I'm well p*ssed off with the customer service from Opel anyway. So much so that I am going to test drive the Elise 111R tomorrow to see if that Toyota motor is not the better track choice. After all, in Switz. the Speedster is now worth about 25,000 Swiss francs. If I put another 25,000 in with tuning, it's still only worth 25,000 – as re-sale value won't go up. If I trade in, for twice the price of an "upgrade" I can get a new car with more power straight out of the factory – new warranty, better ABS, more sophistoicated, easier access to tuning items such as harness bar, better residuals and have dealers who are enthusiastic, knowlegable and competent. At least that's the way it is in Switz. My bro had a Swiss dealer build up a Caterham for him and it was perfect. All I've had from Opel garages has been ignorant cr@p.

I can live with the styling of either – not so sure about the dealers – and I'll find out about the motor tomorrow.

well, that was mr. FW wrote me today: "Sorry, Mr. Stefani, no reduced kits, it is a question of parts we produce 5 each time. the next (5) kit's are ready 15.4.04, 1800h. Not sooner, and 9.4.04 it is anyway closed here! So I will reserve 1 kit for you and I will give you the exact price this week." ...wow, at "1800h", ...very swiss, I must say... :P
