Thanks SpeedyK thumbsup I wish the UK mags test reviews were as comprehensive! The figures show how good the Vxl turbo installation is. Any gear, any speed boost, which comfirms how it feels on the road. I'm very impressed with the supercharger times too. There are no excuses for NA owners with a few grand to spare not going to Courtenay for this mod :D

Ricky,

I'm going to a slalom which is in the other direction, mainly to see the Swiss Steinmetz tuners. They have finally seen the light and instead of 18" tractor wheels are now offering a 16"fronts and 17" rears set with Yoko 048s for the Speedster and *gasp* a four-point harness and bar that fits directly :o :o

so they claimed when I phoned to them on Thursday and today anyway – have to see this for myself :D And I want to talk to them about possibilities of getting the 111R ABS for the Speedster – if anyone in Switz has a hope of sorting this, it's them.

If I really could get that ABS, then I would probably still go the 'charger instead of the 111R route...

'Fraid you'll have to come to Hockenheim 30./31. May and you can try out your lightweight 'charged Speedster against the turbo monsters of Thorney and Streetboy – I would love to see that. B)

BTW, think you might like this quote which I happened across:

Perfection is reached, not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away.

I agree Keith ;)

All this money your shelling out Ricky, surely another 600 euros wont matter ;)

so, everything went smooth, and most of all, customs did't "notice" the package under the trunk  B) my tuner had the chance to ask all the questions, so to dispel any residual doubts about installation, that is really not that hard overall, after going over it several times, I might even be able to do it myself...having the engine out helps a lot tho'... ;) I opted for the new, improved valves, since upon removal, the stock intakes (only 19K km) were already showing signs of wear at the edge.... :o everything else is like new...I guess that is the price to pay for VERY frequent red-lining...and above... while the head is out , it will get all the needed attentions.... B) as well as some smoothing on cams, and crankshaft.....and more on flywheel... :D ... my aim is to have it ready for may 22/23, almost full weekend at the ring... :P as soon as we came back to the shop at 7pm, we put everything on the scale, :D ....total, all included, is 20 kg, quite a bit, but not too bad being so centrally positioned....

Piccys? chinky chinky

leaving home at 4 am, I left the camera behind... :(
will take some pics later on tho'.... ;)
I asked if more power could be achieved later on, and they discourage changing the pulley diameter since it would put more strain on the Lysholm unit, reducing reliabilty.
they reckon that with all my extra mods, the car should become cracking fun, in excess of 230hp......and god knows what the head/crank/flywheel extra-honing that my crazy tuner is contemplating will produce.....

some tidbits...
the lysholm compressor is self-lubricated with about 200cc of mobil1 5W50, lasting 20K km.
it spins at a max speed of 70K rpms, while other brands like rotrex reach 120Krpms...turbos goes even higher....the relatively low speed makes the intercooler unnecessary, being compressed air temp. about 70C.
improved valve kit is 480 euros, taxes excluded.
intake valve is 4 grams heavier, while exhaust is 2 gr. lighter.
the extra ECU unit, the NH2000, is a nicely crafted 20cm-long ali box, that can be fitted anywhere one likes, they install it in the trunk,( I will prolly place it behind the seats, more protected and closer to the main unit).

well, it manages the supercharger, along with the extra 2-injectors....

Hi Ricky, Sad about the pulley. I was hoping that they'd have a small range of various sizes! It would be interesting to have a chart showing SC RPM versus reliability. It seems a shame not to spin it 25% faster. I agree with you, the additional ECU should live on the parcel shelf behind the seats. I guess that's where mine'll go... So you're doing head, valves and cams too, eh? Jon of Courtney's didn't think the valves were a particular problem. I guess when the heads off he can take a look. I just bought ten new and boxed VX220 spark plugs for £6 off of Ebay. I guess that's a barguin! Steve Steve

Hi Anders, Like with most things, knowledge is power! I would like to know as much as is possible about this Lysholm SC. A product specification would be wonderful. Some graphs and test results a bonus. Steve

Sounds great Ricky. One interesting thing I heard was that the supercharger would normally be maintenance free pretty much for life but the 20K oil change was due to the fact that it is mounted at a slight angle and therefore they can't get the same quantity of oil in it as they would normally.

Interested to hear what sort of temperatures and boost this runs at and whether you are thinking of getting any extra guages to monitor on the track- browsing the web there are some pretty funky stack units that seem to monitor almost everything (including predictive lap timing! - great for the ring, no?) and some are even road legal

Nextec have managed to get the D-M setup to pump out 280 BHP. Are they over-revving the unit then or have they chosen a different model?

just made some light calculations and the 1200 model can supply 1.2bar up to 7800rpm on the std wheel without overrev. that should be around 280hp with a effective cooler. the 1600 should be able to deliver air for ~350hp //anders
