Just in time for the National, I've discovered my nearside inboard joint has a mammoth hole in it and has done a good job of coating the innards of my engine bay in grease.

Does anybody know if the boot off a Z22SE engined Vectra would fit and whether it's even possible to remove them intact?

Likewise, does anybody the size I might need (I'm assuming my Vauxhall dealer wont have anything on the shelf) or whether these EP boots will fit our driveshafts as they're only 20 minutes away?

One of mine went a while back. I had a universal one that stretches over fitted but it lasted about two weeks. In the end I had to bite the bullet and fit a kosher one. It wasn't cheap but can't remember exactly what it cost. I know it was a ball ache to do as the whole drive shaft had to be removed and stripped down.

Cheers Karl. I kind of guessed it was going to be a pain in the proverbial - it always is on my car. On the bright side, I've been meaning to drain the gearbox and refill for a year now...... Two weeks life would get me to the National and back though.

My VX Nearside inner CV boot split 3 times in a months last year. I had to fit a genuine Vauxhall item in the end,that solved the problem...

Just had a search through old receipts but couldn't find what I as after. I think I ended up ordering from autovaux and I have a feeling it was something like £50. It wasn't difficult but as your work speed is similar to mine you might want to put a day aside

That's very good of you to offer. I think I'll try and source something locally and replace with the OE stuff when it inevitably dies.

I have some Vectra inboard joints laying on the floor not far from my driveshafts. I can take a look over lunch tomorrow if you want, but I don't remember them looking any different.

just go to a local motor factor type shop, my local (independant) shop like this does the CV boots for about £7 and i've never had a problem with any of these. they were mostly VAG cars but i'm pretty sure the Vauxhall bits will be the same. I'm also willing to bet the boot is the same on 99% of Vectra/Astra cars too, regardless of engine.....

It lasted only a morning, but if you put on a non oem & it does split, you will be ok for a day or two...Also the National is not going to be an intense track day! There's only 3 X20min sessions for each group & an hour in the afternoon, so you should be fine...

Dont know if its any help but had a look on our parts system this morning... 9197858 is the GM number - not the same as any other GM boot kit. Aftermarket wise you will need a Quinton Hazell part number QJB1033 or equivalent. If it helps its also the same as a Honda NSX (42017-SL0-000) or a Kia Sedona (0 K55 22 2540). Sadly we dont keep them in stock.... If you are after a universal one the sizes needed are 25mm shaft size, 87mm joint size with an overall length of 96mm. Good luck with your search! Kevin

Thanks Paul. Just returned from a trawl of the local motor factors, so looks like I have a temporary solution, pending delivery of the proper OE stuff. Thanks again everyone. Your help is much appreciated.

The Vectra ones are different, 2 bellows instead of 3.
