Hi I just got a vx220 N/A and need to know where i should take it for any work in the North Wales area? I'm having the brakes done at the moment so it has gone to the Vauxhall dealer, Slaters, but i have no idea if they are any good or if there is anyone local who specialises. Any help would be appreciated.

Had a service today at Neil Garner, absolutely brilliant. Treated the car well had a good chat to the guys there and was just an enjoyable experience, plus all the V8 TVR's about which made it all the more interesting.

Collected my car from PSR automotive yesterday. I'm again over the moon with the level of service and help Paul and the lads gave. Even with my fuel pump not playing ball, he wouldn't give up even when it got to 7.30pm. If you want a professional reliable company to mend/service/upgrade your little cars. Then these guys are second to none. Thank you.

Just had my service done on Friday at Courtenay Sport in North Walsham and the whole experience was great. I had good chat with the technician as he was inspecting the car and was very knowledgeable and advised what to upgrade.

The showroom with sofa, coffee etc, magazines and TV means you wont get bored waiting either!

Highly recommended.

Forgot to post this a while back, but would recommend Back on Track in Guildford. They fitted the Larini to my car and just found them great,  will be taking it there come service time.

Any recommendations for a VX specialist that does MOTs in the Colchester/Ipswich area or thereabouts?

Just had my car back from Mike Foster at Sports car services in Norton Canes, Cannock. Top guy, excellent service and decent prices too. Had my oem suspension changed to Quantum Zeros, the alternator tensioner & belt replaced, a geo, and the steering column joints looked at. I had a service there a couple of months ago too, so this is my second visit and will certainly be going back for any further work in the future.

Sorry Artic I have to disagree with your review.  I had my VXT serviced at PSR last year before it went into the garage for winter.  I decided to get the engine mounts changed and have the service done at PSR as I had read some good reviews and travelled from North Cambridgeshire.  When I arrived they hadn’t ordered the parts, but said they would be delivered and could be done during the service, so I went for a walk round town.  I then got a call to say they had arrived and did I have time for them to be fitted, which I did.  Shortly after I got anther call, they had mistakenly only ordered one engine mount, which they had fitted and needed to order a second one, did I have time to wait?  If not, they would only charge me half the labour, presumably for only doing half the job!  I couldn’t wait as I needed to get back to work, the confusion was caused as the poly engine mounts come in 2 parts, I know this and I am not a supposed specialist.  Anyway these things do happen, so as the car is now back on the road I have been calling PSR to try and get the other engine mount done, I have left numerous messages and sent 3 emails, no one has bothered to reply.

I am aware they are moving, but they could at least make an effort to book me in for when they are up and running, as I will have to take more time off work to sort out their mistake!

I think I have finally had enough and will take my car somewhere they answer the phone/emails, can anyone recommend a good garage in the Cambridgeshire area, or as close by as possible?

Cheers

Two years ago that was the service I got. Let it be known that you had to push and pester Paul for updates and bookings. Did help that I travel past their unit quite a lot so could pop in and see how things are going. Since then the loss of the unit and back log of work, I doubt changing one engine mount is top priority. Steering the business out the mud and away from possible bankruptcy would keep my time occupied. I use Matt Bentley racing in Kimbolton now. Worth a try as that's on your doorstep.

Understood, but if you make a mistake and don't sort it you lose customers. My Vxt needs a major service in a few months so it has cost him someone who was prepared to travel and was going to spend over £500 getting it done, so although I appreciate it is only an engine mount and brake fluid, poor customer service costs you in the long run (maybe I'm just too old fashioned 😳). Thanks for the recommendation, I will give them a go and, as you say, Matt Bentley is a lot closer.

Took my VX to Matt last week for Quantums, toe-links and a geo.

Great service, he really knows his stuff - wouldn't hesitate to go back to him in the future  thumbsup

Which Quantum's did you put on UltraCC ?  How do you find them ?

Matt Bentley is a great guy isn't he.  His advice is first rate as is the work he does.

I went for the non-adjustable Quantum's, I think they were called Zero's but I think they've changed their naming structure.

I've only been out a couple of times since having them fitted, first impressions are very good. Not as harsh as I expected and the car feels much more direct - that could be the geo setup he did though.

For anybody wanting to get their VX MOT'd in the Chippenham/Malmesbury/Cirencester area... I recommend Crudwell Garage, Crudwell.  Used by Neil Garner Motorsport, which is who referred me.  MOT tester is a good guy and sees VXs and Elises fairly regularly.  They have an inspection window and I inspect... :) They treat her well... Next time I will teach him how to shut the engine cover properly though ;)

Hi-Q in Dudley. Run by car nutters, and they worked out how to do anything required to mot and service my VX for an amazing price. Now JS racing has closed this seems to be a good place for regular maintenenance and MOTs.
