Hi, I'm going to start installing central locking in my NA tomorrow, first of all I am just going to wire it up so it operates via the key (both sides) but ideally I want it to work via the existing remote. Now I know the turbo alarms have the central locking output cables on it, but does the NA?? are they the same modules?? Would like to know if someone has wired central locking to their NA alarm system, as I don't really want to pull the dash apart for no reason. Oh, mines a 2003

Alarm should have the same outputs to trigger central locking. You will need the central locking control module or some relays though.

See here for circuit diagram.

Thanks for the circuit diagram, that will help alot. Yeah I have a central locking control module with the two wires for connecting to an alarm.

Yeah I will take pictures, I will let you know how I get on, as long as I can drill the holes in the doors and pillars to feed the wires through I think it should be fairly easy.

The doors had to come off mine to be drilled when I had it fitted to my NA at my local stealer.

Don't say that!!! I don't want to take the doors off. Where there's a will there's are way!!! Plus I don't trust dealers, they will say the doors have to come off just to charge extra time (and I know this because I work for a dealer, who will remain nameless).

Looks like enough room to get a dremel with a drill bit in it between the doors (fingers crossed) Wish me luck, might be a few swear words tomorrow!!!!

Good luck fella! A worthwhile mod. I wouldn't do without central locking.

Had they not heard of an 90 degree angle drill? Surely you can drill the front of the door without removing it??

are you fitting the extra emergency battery and the secret button same as OEM Turbo build would rather leave it unlocked than have someone slash the roof

I am afraid the "secret switch" is still need, once central locking is in place the normal locks don't work. I am going to installing a secret switch but not in the "not" so secret turbo location

Wouldn't it be more sensible to permanently attach some charging leads to the main battery and leave them behind the nearside front arch liner, so that in the event of a dead battery and no access to the bonnet release, you could inject some power from outside. Would also be handy in the event of the bonnet release going pop.

Well, I started the central locking on Saturday, I haven't finished yet but this is how it went:

1) the kit - off EBay

Posted Image

This kit has two masters, so both doors can be unlocked by either side, so in theory if one off them fails the other door will still open.

2) Off Side Door Lock

Posted Image

There are two places you can attach the rod, one you can see here the other is out of view, but used in the passenger door don't know which one is best.

3) Offside Door - mount motor

Posted Image

4) Offside Door, run cables to pillar

Managed to drill the holes without taking the door off and without a 90 degree drill adaptor

5) Then done the same to the Nearside

I have not finished wiring it up, planning to finish it all on Wednesday

Oh, the windows clear the central locking motors fine, so you do not have to fit turbo ones
