And those upright sections are the reason why the VX has the stupid bits of steel hanging off the top of it's rollover bar.

It's a special rollover bar 😉 but the green house is something else.

Just read your thread from start to now, and have to say that your commitment is stunning, and also, noticed how at the start you didnt appear to get stuck in much, and at the end you were stripping the inlet etc, and all sorts. Well done. Good to see what can be done with a silver car also, as im stuck on ideas on what to do on my silver one.

But everyone knows that sliver is the best vx out there and you all have a soft spot that you just can't admit it 😛

Part 2 of project haggi.

Please let me post everything I've done so far before posting.

I thought I better update this otherwise I will be getting lost with it all. Some of you may or may not know of what I'm doing but Ill start from the beginning. I've got to the stage where I've spent too much money on the vx that I couldn't ever sell it. Since the S2 Exige came out I've always loved the looks of the car but the price tag was too much for me to buy one at the start so I bought the vx. The vx has been a cracking car and I have a soft spot for the looks but I fancied something different. So I've spent too much on the vx to sell and I can't afford the Exige, my man maths works it out to change the vx into an Exige.

So the plan was to have a go and build the car myself at the start but I scared myself off it with the idea of ripping my bodywork off my mint vx so the best idea was to send it to Dan Sps automotive to do the conversion. I just want to say I will never be using Dan ever again in my life as the work he did on my car was just shocking and the state he left my car in was a disgrace. I'm not going to post all the details of what state he left my car in on here as Ill save that for another thread. I basically had to start again with the project once I got my car back after 7 months of it being at his garage.

Anyway I set about collecting the bits I needed for the project.

Boe clam hinge ordered from USA. This is a fantastic bit of kit and allows me to flip the rear clam up in minutes.

Brand new Exige arch liner set and rubbers seals

Exige radiator shroud. I have since bought a new one as the other got damaged.
Posted Image

Exige rain gutter as the vx version is too big to fit with the clam. New shim plates and bolts. Soft top clips and windscreen vinyl as mine is starting to peel.
Posted Image

Two new Kia Sedona CV boots. Heat protection shield for the new Elise shop gear cables I already have. Oil filter, oil rings and oil, timing cover gasket, manifold gasket, studs and nuts. Pro alloy gear box breather.

The problem with the vx220 is the subframe is totally different to the lotus range so the body work on the rear wouldn't fit as the wheels would catch. So to fix the problem it needed some custom wishbones on the rear to push the wheels and driveshaft in a different direction. Tbh the drive shafts now sit perfectly straight from the gearbox as before on the vx they had a slight angle on them so I can only think that this have improved it. I just want to say a big thanks to Herman as the project would have never happened without these. Just to add a lot of suspension doesnt fit on the rear now due to the drive shafts being pushed to close to the shocks.

To protect the wishbones I decided to have them zinc plated and then powder coated to give them that protection but the powder coat didn't key and was coming off in places. So I'm in the process of stripping the paint off and starting again on all my wishbones and uprights in the por 15 paint so I will post details once I've finished this.
I also had a few other bits powder coated like the Saab sump which Neil worked his magic on and fitted the baffles to it. Tat fire bracket, foot stand, gauge holder, toeing eye and fuel rail.
