New battery, cteck battery indicator, and battery cut-off switch.
Posted Image

Plastic shim spacers custom made to size to fit the vx subframe. The vx subframe spacers are 2.5kg in weight so for a few quid it's a good weight saving.
Posted Image

Ecu bracket painted and also bought new exhaust clamps which I painted with hi temp paint.
Posted Image

Ecu all fitted with air filter.

I started to strip all my rear wishbones and upright off again as the powder coat hasn't taken to the wishbones and Dan has chipped all my uprights powder coating so I'm going to start again and refurb all my uprights and wishbones.

My ball joint boots had little cracks in them and there not that old and haven't done many miles so it seemed crazy to replace them all. I reckon it's because the balljoints have been in and out a few times that the seals have been messed around with and I also split the rubber on two of them with the stupid Elise parts tool. So I bought some new rubber boots for them all and replaced them all and packed with new corrosion block grease.

I then stripped the subframe off ready for degreasing, etch primer, hi temp paint and then a hi temp clear lacquer. It came out fantastic I must say.

New rear discs as Dan had chipped mine where he had slipped with a tool or something. Painted them both in a hi temp paint.

New shim plates and bolts and then covered in Durac on the subframe and chassis. There was not a single bit of corrosion on the chassis which I was really pleased with. Also coated anywhere I could with Durac over the chassis.

Since I had to take the rear callipers off it made sense to replace the section of brake pipes that run through the rear arches with a nice copper version.
Posted Image

Painted my engine mount bracket and engine mount. Got the other side to do still.
Posted Image

New brake lines fitted.
Posted Image

Painted the rear callipers again as someone had chipped mine
Posted Image

Painted the drive shafts with the por 15 paint again.

This is where I'm up to so far and I hope you like the update as its taken me hours to write out and link pictures to it.

There's still a lot more work to go. The body work will be getting sorted at some point but Ill keep this updated for any of you that are interested.

Thanks guys. My plan is to get it ready before spring next year and it's not going to see a spanner after its finished as its going to be getting driven. I've not driven it proplery this year so this is fueling me own to spends hours on it after work and and all weekend. Forgot to add that it's going to be called VXIGE. I'm wanting to get some badges made up for it that's half Vauxhall and half lotus joined together if anyone knows a place that could make it for me? It might cause a few raised eyebrows, but at the end of the day it shows how similar these cars are and its bodywork that's separating them.

Don't get me wrong he did do a couple of things on the project that was good but he damaged a lot of parts and left my car in a state which was just embarrassing to say a professional had done it. I was going to do it myself and I wish I did as I could of done a better job and saved a lot of money in the end. This is Dan know as Roadboy http://www.vx220.org...on-seloc-forum/

My aim also once I start mapping is to hit the 400bhp plus mark. It's roughly around the 380 mark atm and with the 75mm Tb over the 68mm that I'm fitting plus ignition work as I haven't touched this yet, should see me over 400.

Great job! Not sure il get that far this winter, but im also stripping my VX down to tidy up and replace parts. Was there a specific spec of plastic that you used for the spacers?

The plastic is called hdpe and has a good heat resistance. Very cheap to buy. The paint I used was u-pol etch primer and por 15 gloss black spray paint which i sprayed in a way to achive a Matt finish.

Ok, cool, il look into getting all of that then. Did you just cut the plastic yourself im guessing, using the originals as templates?

Nope I order the lot from bay plastic who cut to size. I measured up the size I wanted as I made them slightly bigger then the standard version to give a better spacing. Bay plastic number is 0191 258 0777 and my order number is 340900 if you're wanted to quote the sizes. I ordered a lot more then I needed so would be best for you to measure the height you need and then get them to use the correct bit of plastic and cut to size.
