But plastic, can it handle the bending load? What is the material of the OEM subframe schim and how thick are they?

I would be very surprised if it's bends due to it being flush to the subframe and the plastic being soild. The only weight it's taking is the rear clam and there only there to space the clam so the bodywork panels line up.

Who is this Dan? He seems to have lost/broken/poorly fitted a lot of things!?

He lost, broke and poorly fitted plenty on mine also. I can't say too much at the moment as i have a case against him in the small claims courts shortly.

The material I reckon will be steel and its problery a 5-6 mm thick. I've fitted plastic as I need to run more then 5-6 mm to space the exige clam so another reason why I've gone the plastic route.

Finished painting the other side engine mount and bracket. Would you guys says it's ok to wrap the relays up in a bag like I have to stop the rain getting to them. I can't remember if the relays get hot that they would melt it.

Finished sanding and keying the area ready for paint on my rear uprights and toe link as the powder coat is still stuck on tough there's no need to remove it all as the Por 15 is fine for spraying over powedercoat. The wishbones are nearly done as well I'm just waiting for some more paint remover to get deliverd as I've run out. I'm stripping all the paint off the rear wishbones as its not keyed at all and this paint remover I've got doesn't damage the zinc plating underneath. Once the paints is all off I've got a t-wash to go over the zinc plating to get it ready for paint.

You look like you're a bit handy with the spanners Luke. Lots of good work there.

Great job! I'm sure you'll enjoy the car a lot more as you're building it than if someone else had built it for you. Are you selling the nitron shocks? If so, pm me the price you're expecting please. Best of luck with the project, keep up the photos! ;)

Today's job was to remove the front clam and replace the battery, heater pelum and rain gutter. Then fit the Elise parts power pack, battery indicator for the trickle charger and battery cut off switch.

New heater pelum vs old.
Posted Image

Power pack fitted. This is a good bit of kit as it connects straight to your battery and then gauges, amplifiers and devices can be connected straight to it with out the need of cutting into other wires and taking power from them.
Posted Image

New battery installed along with cut off switch, charging point and power pack fitted. I packed the battery with foam to stop it moving around. The battery cut off switch took a while to get it into the right place so it wouldn't make contact on any part of the car.
Posted Image

I've also took off my old rain gutter as this was the state it was left in when I got it back. The vx rain gutter doesn't fit the lotus clam so it was modified to make it work.
Posted Image

Just bonded the rain gutter on for now and will let it dry over night before I finish it off with a nice straight line of silicone. Heater pelum fitted as well.

Cheers mate. I've learnt a lot since having this car I must admit and If there's something you don't know then the forum is a massive help.

It's a option but would be nicer to keep them where they are if I could to save messing adding extra wring to them.

That sounds better then the plastic bag I have. Any links to where you bought the correct size box for the relays?

Have you got a colour in mind?

Sort of, after Ive done all the wishbones and replaced everything in that area including incliding the front wishbones its then just bodywork to sort and a full interior retrim that I have left on my plans to do.m Colour is a hard one to pick so will need some ideas at some point 😀

Once finished, get a nice picture of the full side so we can photoshop.

(but can allready say that those soft loti lines require a light color to fully enjoy them)

I was trying to paste a link to a photo of an Exige club racer.

Why can't I insert a link or paste into the text window? Has something changed on the forum since I've been away or is it a problem with my computer?
