I'd spoken to a number of people about bending and its clear the problem is caused by damper 'bottoming' it's actually doing what it's designed to. You dont really want to increase bump travel so much that the wheel impacts the clam (front for sure, never checked the rear). It does seem to be more of an issue at the back and maybe there is enough clearance to give more bump travel. Maybe something like the Toyota Bilstein S2 kit on the earlier cars. Of course, many sports car designers moved away from this style of wishbone with in-built bending moments.

Are we talking "dented & bended" rear wishbones here due to to much upwards damper travel? => Rear upper wishbone touches the subframe near at inner mounts. (some pics somewhere here.)

Or pure bending of the wishbone (front & rear) due to the damper/spring load on ~3/4 of the wishbone length, causing a bending moment between the two wishbone pivot points (inner mounts & ball joint)??

Ah ha. Ive read that thread now. Seems the VX suffers from a damper with too much travel culminating in upper wishbone interference. Didnt realise this till now.

I noticed that Arno posted something about lower wishbone bending which is what happens when the damper travel is reached. Elises with Lotus Sport Suspension (LSS) are known to bend wishbones.

I jacked the rear hub up today until the damper body made contact with the bump stop (quite a bit of effort with 500lb springs fitted ) There was about an inch clearance between the subframe and the wishbone - the bump stop is around 1.5 inches, so would take a very big bump to cause impact, let alone bending

It says there will be GAZ Gold monotubes coming soon on the GAZ website. Wonder if they'll be better than these. If these are circa £800 would the £650 Nitron street series not be a better alternative? Also, what are the benefits of monotubes over the normal coilovers?

I'm fine, apart from peoples reluctance to pop a tasty answer down for me, how are you?

I think that the problem is that no one has any answers. Apparently the NSS is supposed to be out next month, but I have heard more like 800 than 650. I haven't heard boo about GAZ monotubes. Therefore, it still looks like boggo GAZ Gold Pro whatsits for me. edit: It also sounds like the NSS spring rates are set for having an upgraded front bar, so that will add to the cost for many. So what's this about GAZ Golds running upside down (damper on bottom). Urrgghhh.

Thanks mate thumbsup Think I may just stick with my original plan and get the tried and tested GAZ Gold coilovers/pro? from fleabay! I assume the pro you refer to is the £550 GAZ Golds on eBay?

I don't know what's on eBay. I plan to go to GAZ direct. They have not been immune to issues and I want to be sure to get the latest spec. As for the Gold/Pro thing people are saying that they no longer make the Gold and they are now called the Pro. I dunno, they were happy calling them Gold at Autosport. Whatever they're called I want the better ones. Main issue that stll bothers me is this running upside down business. More unsprung weight is not good, especially on such light car.

I was ready to part with cash last month along with a couple of other forum members, having in the past spent circa £1600 with Gaz.

Mark told me that Golds aren't made anymore and only Pro's available, but didn't mention these new type.

Then queried a group buy and told they were too busy and could not fulfill order - but I never got to the bottom of what shock was what price & what was actually available now.
