did we ever agree about 2.2 fuel pumps being different to LET?

No, I think we settled on them being the same pump but that the 2.2 runs at a higher fuel rail pressure as standard (and they're also a few years older on the NA).

I am not convinced about this fuel pump issue, to me it sounds like undersized injectors , but with high rail pressure to get good emission figures. With that duty the injector is going to struggle to pass enough volume in such a tight time window at high rpm.

:(

Oh well, at least there's now a decent solution thanks to Cliffie and Glencoe. Just need ProAlloy to do their bit. I must crack on and get my new pump and fuel lines installed as I'm over at North Walsham next week for a health check on the dyno. Will be good to get my missing rpm's restored one of these days.

Jon's meant to be getting back to me today to let me know when they will be ready, I'll ask him to give you a call if you like.

Dunno. We're using VXT injectors already which you guys don't max at <=300bhp. Next step up for us is to use the LEH VXR injectors, which is what Nick has with his Harrop (don't know where MaxR's car is at with his 305bhp?).

All this talking of fuel pumps has me thinking. I seem to be getting a lot of running lean fault codes recently. Now in my eyes this could be down to 2 things either the oxygen sensors or the fuel pump. Does anyone know the voltages of what the sensors should read so i can get that checked out. Also whats up with the replacement fuel pump from Cliffe? Whats the need for the other part from proalloy??

with a completely bog standard engine, turbo , just with a 2bular exhaust, stg 2 made 290bhp , but with 0.90 lambda

on the SC 2.2, do you run the FPR off the intake manifold, so 1bar boost gives an extra 1bar fuel pressure, which in real world gives about 15% actual.

basically you just move the weakest link to something else :)

Don't worry Chris. I've spoken to Jon a couple of times in the last week. I don't think the ProAlloy collar will really be needed but if it does surface at some point in the near future, I'll retrofit it (now I've got easy access to the pump with the tank still in place).

It will be exactly 12 months since ProAlloy had my car for a few weeks to "solve" the pump issue in the next couple of weeks. :(

The circumference of the OE pump is slightly bigger than the replacement. Or to be exact, the base of the OE pump is wider than rest of the body and fits into the fuel pump canister exactly. The replacement doesn't have this wider bit at the base, so isn't an exact fit. ProAlloy are going to machine a collar that slips over the new pump body which will then make the replacement a tight fit into the canister to stop any movement. It sounds bad from that description but it's not in reality as the replacement pump has a sprung filter basket on the bottom to prevent it sitting on the bottom of the canister and the b*stard convoluted pipes on the top of the new pump stop it moving up and keep it under tension.

i just feel PA take the biscuit with the prices of there work. Nearly £300 for a header thank where as Alloy Racing Fabrication was only £70.

Not to mention the radiators/pre rads. They are very expensive products. I know just how much it really does cost to make things now, and it's definately not that much.

Personally, I don't think it's necessary.

Cliffie hasn't got one, neither have I and Vocky was more than happy with the fit of mine and Cliffie's (think DuncanVXR might have fitted one to another car as well). If ProAlloy give me one for nothing (or next to), I'll probably fit it, otherwise I won't bother. I'm pretty sure it's not going to be an expensive solution anyway but clearly Jon at Courtenays would rather be recommending/selling something that he's 101% happy with and is as near as OEM fit as it's possible to be.
