I am interested in the remap - I already have the backbox. Just driven home from work in the pouring rain with the 048's. I came home a fair bit slower than normal! Although I would love to find somewhere without lamposts and kerbs so that I could have a play and explore a bit more.

oh...by the way ..my baby has the engine management light on....something to do with the filter /air mass flow meter... ..apparently it may be the performance filter having too much oil on it...

well Stu is on the case...and one has been ordered..

Mani

Very unlucky indeed but I think most of us saw this one coming. Nothing was changed in the AMM area for the VXR and it has nothing to do with the oil ( at least it hasn't on any VXT ) since they'll blow even when the filter is fitted dry. At least you're covered under warranty but its frustrating when you go through loads in a matter of months! Hope you get it fixed soon.

Foam filters (fitted as an aftermarket option on some VXTs and standard on VXR) appear to contribute to Air Mass Meter failures. I've had 2 go in the last few months, and since refitting a standard paper filter, it has been fine. We are not 100% sure, the jury is still out on the real cause, but if you have a foam filter, and/or it is very wet, then you can expect to blow a few AMMs. The car is still driveable, but the management warning light will come on and the car may run a little lean. If you run it for too long like this, the AMM can pack up completely and needs to be replaced. It's a 5 minute job to replace, and should be done under warranty. Expect Vauxhall to revert to paper filters in the VXR soon though.

Actually....once I got the engine management light on ...I had a funny feeling it was going to be the AMM..
Timbo commented about the new performance filter and the potential future problems at the European meet...

his words were "I guess VXL must have sorted out the filter /amm on the VXR then..."

not quite... :P

5 minutes tops Mani - 2 jubilee clips for the hoses and a push fit electrical connector. My dealer fitted mine while I wait. I was away within the hour.

Vauxhall are a bunch of muppets :beat: (we all knew that). This amm problem has been on going since the year dot, so what do they do, put foam filters in vxr's. Hello, wake up, it doesnt work, but saying that just for research purposes i am now running a modded air box, foam filter and modded amm :o !!! But only cause i have two spare amm's :o

Maybe its just the cynic in me but if vauxhall found an answer to this wouldn't it mean we could all start using performance filters/induction kits etc and they wouldn't like that would they
