Got the phone call I've been waiting for to say that my VXR is ready to be given the once-over by Lotus Motorsport and would I like to pop down to Lance Owen and hand over some dosh. Should get the reg no this afternoon although I've still no idea which VXR number it will be. That's put a smile on my face and cheered up an otherwise very miserable Friday.

Well.....got my baby booked in at AMD....going to get a VXR back box on it plus a rolling road! Annie, Boxy others.....did you get a manual with your VXR ? If so..could you check at the back and see what engine oil is recommended...semi synthetic or synthetic? Mani

Hi Mani,

No VXR specific manual or particular recommendations - just the standard VX which states:
"For engine lubrication, we recommend using Vauxhall engine oils with the following qualities and viscosities:
ACEA A3-/B3- SAE 0W-30 or
ACEA A3-/B3- SAE 5W-40 or
ACEA A3-/B3- SAE 10W-40
Engine oil quality
When using commercially available engine oils, as a matter of principle only those oils that meet the minimum quality requirements specified in the following table are permissible.
ACEA-A3- or ACEA-A3-/B3"

I'm not entirely sure if this answers your question - my advice regarding oil usually concerns extra virgin olive or sesame!

Annie- thanks for the info...but too many options...so I am getting AMD to change olil to whatever they put in Thorneys

R1nur- join the club mate....still waiting for a manual and a service book!

On another note...got the Carbon Fibre cut dash from Thorney today...so will be installing it later on today...plus my new Sony..cant wait!

Hi all just fitted the Carbon Fibre dash....must admit it looks loads better than the standard plastic VXR dash.... the main dash came off a treat...after a couple of minutes with the hairdryer....CF replacement fits fine although passenger side edge needs a couple of mm shaving off to make it sit flat and level.....but not a problem as its been velcroed on ...so I can take it off in minutes regarding other side....again needs to have the sides shaved a couple of mm to allow it sit level with the switches....decided not to fit until sorted. stereo....looks good....sounds crap through the standard blaukpunkt!...well its still some entertainment Mani

mani have you done youre 1000 oil change yet how much did they charge ive just been told £85 i think ill do it myself/ should i change the filter too. just got a miltech backbox from amd (soz thorney but i was passing) will fit it over the weekend i will try and photo all the knuckle scratching action. ian

also my VXR back box is now on......sounds ok...but itll take a couple of hundred of miles to open up I guess.....

regarding fitting...it took AMD a couple of hours as the first was a pain to get off...apparently some of the bolts were corroded

mine should be ready Friday - just waiting for an update.... Finish my current job and start a new one on Monday so cant pick it up from Hethal Will have to wait for it to be shipped to Crownhill and get time off to pick it up.... Could be another week

Just seen Jim Mitch's post. You can add to the list the 2 VXRs in the showroom at Slaters Vauxhall, Colwyn Bay. I did check their web site but they list only 1 there with 10 miles on the clock - And they show the price as................. Wait for it................................ £20,995 !!!! Bargain
