Yes I had the badge in July with letter same as Mani.I have got my hardtop painted satin black, to go with the rest of the black on VXR, and am having the big red griffin stuck onit! When i get the roof back, I kept the roof off my yellow VXT and had it painted, but now Vaux cant get fer some reason the side seals for the roof! rant Also am a bit pi..ed off, I tryed on a number of occasions to get the car A/Fd at lotus and the dealership without success, so took the car to A/F essex, and had it done, there was a small stone chip to the grill,1 on the nearside front bumper, and a couple on each vent low down. This should and could have been avoided!!!! :angry:But other than that this is one mother of a car, put a 355 in is place the other day B) Suns shining its sun morning, wheres dem keys rallly And stick my name down fer the VXR track day. Anyone fancy Landow proving ground S/Wales?

The 7 ! Dealer Cars at the end of the Production line & where to buy them from (Thanks Stu H)

55 Lance Owen
56 Motorbodies
61 West End
52 Greenhouse
49 Bayliss
43 FG Barnes
39 Lance Owen
65 Archie Moss - Coral Blue
44 Archie Moss

Ian,

Sorry to pick you up on something, but my maths don't add up.
Do you know if the number 7 is wrong or the list of nine dealers? Baylis keep telling me that they no longer have a car coming (No.49?).

Steve

I asked Stu following his post of Oct 4 2004, 16:30 stating 'Then have 7 dealer cars to build inc the Coral Blue VXR that was cancelled' and the list I posted was his reply (hence my ! after the 7  )

My best guess would be that 2 are built at 7 are to be built ?

Also I will keep a look out at Archie Moss to see if I can spot the Blue one (even if that's on the 'Roll Call' list TWICE as well , as both SOLD & UnSOLD ;) )

Regarding the other bits, I got my badge with the letter form Stu shortly after the Motor Show, I remember mention of the Cert but have not got one & finally I am on the list for a Palmersport day but missed out on the ones this year.

Cheers, Ian

All letters and badges were sent out in July to all those customers that had confirmed an order. For those of you that haven't received one I'm waiting for the final list to fall into place then I'll send badges and certificates out. Stu

Collected No. 55 yesterday. :groupjump: I won't talk about the car as other members have already done a good job of describing what it's like to drive. However I would like to say a big thank you to Stu Harris Imnotworthy , Matt at Drive Vauxhall Leamington Spa (top bloke - good dealership) and Paul @ Armour Guard (top job on the Armourfending and great service thumbsup ) for all their help getting this far. Thanks also to members of this forum for advice and laughs - especially Annie and Ben. Of course I reserve to right to blame you all should it not work out!! :D

Signing in as the proud owner of VXR 57 – picked up from F G Barnes in Guildford yesterday (Sunday 24th) then driven down to the Westcountry where she is now garaged and placed in my brother’s care before I returned to London last night and flew out to New York. As I now live in both the US and the UK, I am afraid she will only appear for selected track days on my returns to the UK. Apparently F G Barnes have acquired #61 – a cancelled order from the factory. So there is a final opportunity for someone who makes a quick phone call. This is my third VX220 – and the third to wear the V22VXV registration. My original, bought new in 2001 was of course the standard 2.2 (yellow). The second was the VXT (also yellow) acquired new last year and VXR #57 (red) is my third. I’ll post some pics of all three in the gallery soon. The first two were regularly used at track days (many, many times at Bedford). The VXT was driven by Justin Wilson (who also instructed me in it) at a special Justin Wilson day held at Bedford last year. Had I realized that the VXR could have been ordered in yellow I probably would have done so… it is undoubtedly the most striking of all the paint jobs. However, I never thought the black wheels and black screen looked good on the VX Lightning, but it does look very good on the red VXR. So I’m happy! The one thing I regretted on both the 2.2 and the later Turbo, was that I didn’t have the courage to order them without a radio. It just didn’t seem right (and you couldn’t hear it properly unless the car was standing still anyway!). The Turbo did have the cross-drilled brakes and did NOT have the totally unnecessary central locking. This time, the audio error has been corrected. No audio in the VXR other than listening to the turbo – that sounds more like a demented dentist’s drill than before. Having previously driven the Elise edition that has the same big sticky tyres, the Elise grip was great, but a VXT owner would quickly missed the lack of grunt. The VXR has it all. Unbelievable grip and unbelievable go. Having driven the Elise S1 and S2 in several guises (and other Lotus models too), I can say without doubt that the VXR is by far the best Lotus-built car ever. The only people who would disagree are those who have never driven a VXR and those who have an insecurity problem over driving a Griffin badge (but those people probably have other security inferiority complex problems as well!). This car is fine wine. Taking the depreciation hit on buying all three models in quick succession has been insane, but this is a future classic, no doubt. As long as Vauxhall doesn’t bring out a VXR220-2 the VXR will remain the finest wine from this particular vineyard. My only regret? Having sold my VXT in June in anticipation of the VXR, it was heartbreaking yesterday to only be able to drive it for a couple of hours after all these months of patiently waiting for its delivery! It’ll be weeks before I can see her again! (By the way, the VIN for #57 is WOLOEBR973N007667)

Thanks guys - I am determined to get back over to the UK for SOMETHING before the year end; I notice there are some RMA days at Bedford available. I couldn't believe on checking my diary earlier today that it was June that I last got on track (that was a Bedford track evening); and before that May with RMA at Silverstone GP circuit). In July my "yellow baby" VXT was sold and since then it's been the eternal wait for the "red baby" to arrive! And - yes, the bastard brother has already phoned me to ask whether he should be taking the brunette or the blonde for a spin. My advice? Neither! The best sex is just you and the car! (What am I saying? ) Are we naming our cars? As the owner of #57 should I call it Heinz? Or Ketchup?
