It was meant with VERY heavy irony... ;)

But actually my fiancée is delighted I've gone for the VXR. A survey was done recently of brands of car driven by people who screw around. Porsche (of course) came first (!), and Vauxhall was bottom of the list.

I ordered the ohlins aswell and the stickers too. Does anyone know a Lotus dealer near Doncaster. I think there is a jct600 in Leeds but i'm not sure. I'm going to go and test drive the new exige as the VXR handles very similar and also to see how the suspension feels. I feel that being the passenger in a vx/elise doesn't help you regarding how the car feels/drives and acts under braking etc due to you not being in control and the person you are next to tends to be very handy with a car anyway.

Cheeky 135r suspension is only adjustable for ride height and has to be done by a specialist. Exige susp is non adjustable AFAIK. So Ohlins, if i go for them will be a new experience and definately lots of scope to fcuk up

I'll also probably order a Milltek - but I want a full system and an extra set of wheels with road tyres - how should I order these, Stu?

and an extra set of wheels with road tyres

As mentioned in >this thread<, which road tyres are you planning on getting? I can't find anything in more than a V rating in that size for the fronts. Arguably, you're not going to be going fast enough in a VXR on a public road to hit the point at which your tyre explodes  and fortunatly for me the NAs take a V anyway. The turbo requires a W though and the A048 at 16" come in a W too.

haven't received my badge yet :( The exhaust is the one which is made by milltek. You don't hear it too much at low revs but when it is under load it gives out a nice note B) If you are coming to the national meet you will hear it there and then you can decide if it is for you.

Wicky, the exhaust may have different characteristics on the VXR as apposed to the NA/turbo, but on both of these it is the other way around. At tick over you get a nice rumble and with a few revs it growls, but under load it quietens up. That is why I got it, 'cos on the motorways at 80 you can't hear it.

I think that's what you want, it would be too draining to have constant zorts noise in your ears.
