Is the S1 wing going to be wide enough? When one was put on the back of mine to see how it would look it seemed far too narrow and looked a little odd. Was a long time ago though so memory may of lapsed a little since then!!

It's over 1.2m wide, so doesn't sound too small.... Will find out when it arrives I guess...

:yeahthat:

It's a lot wider than the useless S2 stuff + the curve radius is closer to what should be on the VX

Is it Really worth it ?

over the last few days this is a question that I have had rolling round my mind

None of us compete seriously in our cars
theres no prize money

after falling off at cadwell

I reckon driving training and hours on the track are the way to spend the hard earned

The exige one I have in my garage is just a bit of fun
looks only

I think for the rear wing to work properly it needs to mounted quite high

I'll get me coat

Fair one. You've got plenty of perspective given your 'incident' :)

It's a hobby though dude. I love chucking my VX around a track, and have seriously compromised my VX's road driving ability to make it as track specific as I can. Most of her miles these days are on track (or driving to one). I pay top dollar to get her properly serviced, and spare no penny on maintenance. That's how I like to spend MY hard earned.

I agree for optimum downforce height is a significant factor, but I also think the S1 Exige spoiler will offer a significant improvement in handling. That said if I don't like the look of it, it's not going on

Enjoy

:groupjump:

I'll tracking again next season
I'm not gonna tell the wife
and I'm not gonna fall off !@!!!!!!@$$$@@£@@@!@£!@

Well the wing arrived.... Looks good, nice size, cool brackets, contour of the curve follows the car perfectly, but...... I'm too scared to drill my car to fit it  I know I should just do it, but what with it being a VXR it just feels wrong.... I'm having another look tomorrow or Sunday, but I don't know what will change. Just do it...?

Better not read VXR36's Caral thread then. :D

I know what you mean though. I was terrified when I drilled the 3 holes for the tubbie spoiler.

If you dont like it, it's just a case of filling the holes and a quick blow over with some paint.

JJJ what is the rough spec of your car as far as track flavour goes? Am looking to track bias my Turbo for next year and other than ARB's/ ABS switch and tyres I'm looking for some pointers. I know you do a fair bit of track so.................... Oh and IMO....Ditch the wing unless its true aero/ downforce capabilities can be proven to you

Well here are the pics as I promised...

The spoiler seems quite high, but it's sat on top of the mounting bolts and resting on carpet as I'm too scared to drill the holes

Isn't the widest spoiler in the world, but still looks great on a VX.

Posted Image

The profile of the curve follows the back of the VX nicely!! Boot opens fine too!

Posted Image

The spoiler will then sit about an inch lower than this (holes not drilled yet).

Posted Image

As much as I like it, I've not got the heart to fit it. The spoiler will be going up for sale if anybody is interested.

Got no balls man!! :gayfight:

Looks abit narrow to me anyway. Think you made the right decision JJJ. I think serious modifying to improve lap times gets a tricky one when you have done all the obvious mods.

Gets to a point where you have to decide what actually the car is. A proper track car or a compromise. If you want a proper track car then you have to kind of lose the love for the thing. Get it stripped out, serious body modifications and dont be afraid to get the thing scratched.

I think it looks sweet  - even better if the end plates were black and the main plane was red. thumbsup According the original EVO road test the Exige S1 creates 45kg of down force at 100mph (and 35kg front) although that will be with the sloped engine cover
