No-one know?

I've seen some on ebay and they look the same, but I'm wondering whether to chance it to replace my cracked sill protectors?

Posting up a linky may prompt some responses :) Alternatively, I guess it's a simple case of either (a) getting measurements; or (b ) ringing up a Lotus specialist who would see some VXs eg Bell & Colvill, Hangar 111, or somewhere like Courtenay's :) Edit: typo

You can get VX ones on ebay too, why not keep it simple or are the lotus ones way cheaper?

Basically, if you look at this picture in an Exige you will see the difference.

Where we have the plasticy bit with the triangles into it that always cracks, lotus's have a soft foam filled pad that are finished in leather.
They look exactly the same shape and with the price of the plastic covers that are just as likely to crack again, I'm looking at theses as a suitible alternative.

The reason I asked here is because I consider people "VX220 specialists" and thought that someone could give me a quick answer before phoning around.

I'm pretty sure they wont fit as from memory the actual fibreglass bit of the sill is quite a different shape on the S2. Think there might also be some differences at the front where it joins the dash. Would be good to know if they do fit though as the Elise version is much nicer.

@Craig The VX drivers side version is hard to come by in good nick and then they just crack again so I thought this might be an alternative. @wivvy My passenger side one is perfect, just the drivers side, but I would replace both if it was an option. @Techieboy Not sure if the S1 ones will fit because I'm sure they were slightly different. I like them a lot more than the VX ones too.

The front of the sill protector looks like an NA one, but I'm not sure about the fixings at the back...... might need modification.

I thought they looked different, so I bought a new cover from Vauxhall and planned to fit the cover with some foam sheet underneath the bit that flexes and cracks.

Sorry I thought you were meaning the carbon covers for the sill

The Europa covers should be the same?

ooooooo.....might have a look at them then! thumbsup

Just out of matter of interest, does anyone know what it is that fixes the plastic sill protector trim to the sill? Undid all the screws a while back and it seems that there’s some majorly sticky pads or something under it holding it on?

It was just not up for moving without me having to crack it further.

Yep, the mother of all double sided sticky tapes. Takes a bit of patience to pry the cover off without damaging it.

The ones in the pictures posted are from the latest Elise/Exige dash layouts and do look like they will fit....I think from memory they are 2008 onwards.

My exige is November 2006, and has slightly different sills to the ones in the pic and these will not fit. The basic sill is the is the same, but where the front attaches to the dash is different and will not be compatible.

To be honest the elise/exige sills are only slightly better. They are not leather, but made of a rubber type material which is still pretty uncomfortable. I think the best option would be to have the existing sills recovered in leather or alcantara.

I was merely providing alternative methods for you to answer your question, in case no-one on here knew the answer

A quick call to Elise Parts later, and they said categorically that they do not fit because they have previously tried them :)

ETA: Bell & Colvill offer a retrim service - perhaps they would do up some VX ones to be more akin to what you after. Or try a local upholsterer

Thanks hun ;) :grouphug:

The older ones on the s1 and s2 look a bit different and I agree that they don't look like a match, but as N17VES says, I think the later model ones and from Craig's picture the Europa ones might fit. Not sure if Elise parts have tried them or not because they only have the older ones on their site.
I was having a look on the Bell & Colville site and I noticed the retrimming service which might be an option. Just glue them together then get them covered.

I have to admit I didn't ask about the Europa - only the Elise :) Easiest I think would be to get measurements of the Europa ones
