Spent a couple more hours sticking various bits onto the engine today. It's all ready apart from offering up the flywheel and clutch assembly and tightening it (which is a 2 man job really to stop the engine cranking round as you tighten the fly bolts.). There is a new pic here: https://sites.google...07---new-engine

Good progress Nev

Really easy to make a locking tool from a bit of 6mm or thicker steel - nobody ever helps me :( lol :P

I think when I removed the f/w I did not have one at the time, so improvised something wedged in somewhere

Well Alex duely came round yesterday and we had a 7 hour marathon session in the garage. Everything went smoothly apart from when we realised we had fitted the exhaust pipe before the driveshafts and had to undo it. We got everything wired up and plumbed in. All that remains for me to do is fit the inlet + boost pipes, put oil + water in and start it. I'm getting excited. I am aching like an old man today, but it was worth it. Thanks again to Alex, it's great to have fellow enthusiasts helping :)

The engine is alive! Notice the turbine whine, sounds like a mini jet in the background just at idle :)

chinky chinky Congratulations :) All OK?

Seems to be, no leaks yet which is nice and lambda was floating around 14.3:1 to 14.8:1 on average. I've only let it warm up to running temps once and not driven it yet. Will shove the clam back on do some tentative & incremental shake downs over the next week. Can't wait to see what the power delivery is like. I hope to connect my laptop up and check all the sensors are within tolerance and wired up/working as well. The idle is a lot better than before, but it still seems a bit rough, might be due to poor plug gapping or somesuch detail or maybe it simply the cams.

Excellent :) Fancy a little run in trip on the weekend then? ;)

That might be a little premature old bean, I remember having to put my foot down to keep up with you last time near Tormarten. First off, I'll need to so some gentle short runs and double check all the suspension bolts, check for leaks, check all hoses + clips etc after each run. This will take several evenings at least I think. After that I might be able to keep up with you down those twisties, without worrying about wishbones detaching! :)

What sort of map do you have to run it in?

What sort of map do you have to run it in?

It's fully mapped on low power setting (480 BHP) and good to go full beans. The high power map is 90% complete and safe(ish) to drive, though I won't be using this for the road as I found it too much. My intention is to let the engine bed in and take it back to Chris at EFI to let him finish off the map and also fix the TC and a few other bits and bobs like gear dependant boost settings and boost threshold ignition timings.

Hi Nev When you connect your lap top and run WARI screens F2 and F11 are useful for monitoring what's going on. Dave
