Perfect for a turbo
Poor Nipper will be approaching 950 KG if I don't watch out

Nipped out on some familiar country roads this afternoon for the first time since the remap. The smilies say it better than words:

It's also the worst kind of weight isn't it? Unsprung weight? Might be bs but I'm sure I read somewhere that for every 1kg of unsprung weight removed, it's equivalent to 4kg of sprung weight removed? For handling benefits that is, not weight reduction overall.
Yes I'm sure it must have some effect, though in the real world I think stopping approx. 30% faster is more important than adding a couple demi-seconds to rebound rates. Just looking at big fat cars like Porsches, Audis and BMW 5s etc, which have seemingly high floating masses, they all seem to handle adequately.
Having said that, the projected cost of building this brake kit has crept a lot, so I am undecided whether to go ahead ATM, so the extra KG per corner may never materialise.

2 hours in the garage this afternoon and I offered up the Alfa disc to the Elise Part upright with the Brembo calipers:
Doesn't look too huge in the 18" wheels:
At least 1" of clearance between wheel and caliper thanks to my 18" wheels:
Everything seems to fit, but with 1 technical decision about spacers to be made; I will review this with Josh to see if he concurs with me. All in all this really cheap solution is looking good at the moment though.
I have done the calcs and this setup will be +4 KG per corner when compared to OEM brakes. This isn't great news for rebound rates and nimbleness, but hopefully will be positively offset by epic braking that Nipper sorely needs.

At this rate you will need more BHP to cope with all the extra weight
Looks great, cant wait to hear what you think of them under use

Hopefully they will be manage around -2.0g once the bias valve is installed. At this rate you will need more BHP to cope with all the extra weight Looks great, cant wait to hear what you think of them under use

The extra weight over the front should help reduce the wheelie effectAt this rate you will need more BHP to cope with all the extra weight

At least 1" of clearance between wheel and caliper thanks to my 18" wheels:
Would a 17" fit over them then, or is that taking margins too far?

Yep as MopeyT says, for sure a 17" wheel would fit, maybe even a 16" wheel too. One of the reasons I chose the Porsche Brembos was because they have a very low mounting profile. For example the similar Alfa Brembo calliper mounting bolts stick out approx. 1cm proud of the casting, a design flaw that the Porsche ones don't have for some reason. I have written up a more in depth explanation of the engineering behind this mod on my website here: https://sites.google.../07---update-29Would a 17" fit over them then, or is that taking margins too far?At least 1" of clearance between wheel and caliper thanks to my 18" wheels:

The only think is it looks really wierd to see 'Porsche' written on parts of a VX.
