Nev, i realy hope i can meet you one time.... Your car is a true inspiration for me. Also a passengerdrive would be nice to see the powerdelivery etc....

I can honestly tell having met Nev a few times he's a thoroughly nice chap and having been in his car it's only slightly fast ;)

Thank guys, nice of you to say so.

BTW Al, I've just stuck those softer springs you kindly sold me for a bargain on the rear of the car just now. Can't wait to go out for a test drive once the traffic dies down.

So I now have 350 front and 450 rear with the front ARB supposedly on 165 ft/lb of torque to stiffen up the front on a corner. I've reset the ride heights, but I expect it will all sag a bit over the next week.

Yup, but with the lower spring rates I'm hoping to be able to set the rebound rate up a few clicks on the rear and maybe 1 or 2 on the fronts. Bear in mind my power comes in more softly than a stage 4, so it doesn't unbalance the axles too badly.

What coilovers + spring poundage have you got on yours BTW?

The softer rear end is really nice, it was deffo a good idea to reduce the spring poundage for the types of road I drive on. Not sure what high speed feel will be like yet.

I can't believe it, but my new alternator belt is squeaking again, probably as my old clamping bolts are tired and slipping on the bracket.

So I have ordered up a rose jointed adjustable threaded bar spacer that some kind engineer has made and offers on eBay. Quite a bargain really, he can't be making much money on it, but I will be thankfull all the same if I can stop the irritating noise.

I also did a 1400 mile oil change today. I've been noticing some positive things about the engine in the last 6 weeks or so, the oil smells less "petrolly" and also the magnetic sump plug had almost no fur on it. Also I am finding that I am only needing to top up maybe 500 milli litres of oil every 1000 miles. That's welcome news in the garage, and perhaps shows my policy of using mineral oil and changing it regularily is working out nicely for the bores & rings. If this continues, it will be tempting to move up to a B4 semi synth.

Yea, the engine bay is dreadfully dusty, partly due to lack of floorpan. I guess that thats what happens when you actually drive your car hard and dont treat it like a garage queen ;)

Last weekend I went through a dusty section of road with Hairy behind me at some considerable speed. It's no exadjurating to say that Nipper picked up so much dust that I really could not see him in the vortexes behind me - at all. It was quite incredible.

Ah yes, well spotted, I have noticed the yellowing of the header tank recently, maybe I should pre-emptively order another.

Is the water header tank for the NA the same as the VXT? The ones on eBay seem to have brass insert in the pipes, seems different to my current one. Maybe a new manufacturer?

500f / 600r , plus the helpers which I can't remember

today was spent at the dyno , made some very good numbers with the next generation VX software.

Jesus, 500f with a 1" ARB! Don't you struggle on bumpy roads?

Keen to see the dyno plots, post em up :) Are you able to kill the spool up torque spike that Klassen never did or is it impossible?

The car has been getting a bits spluttery higher up the rev range in the last year and it has occured to me that the spark plugs are probably 6 or 7 years old now and probably due for a swap.

So I have just inspected them to see how they are fareing and they all look fine with a good colour, no visible ceramic cracks etc. I was hoping they might be a bit sooty on the tips which would have allowed me to drop a heat rating (currently on 9) which would make the car a bit better behaved when cold. But they are not, so I guess I will have to stick with "9"s, which although poor when cold at least minimise my risk of them overheating and breaking with the horrible conseqences of bits of metal and ceramic bouncing around on the pistons.

I'd have to have a drive to believe that, are the dampers clicked up a fair bit from minimum damping?

Makes me wonder about the valving in my Nitrons, the difference (increase in compression/rebound) in the click settings is really accute on mine and hard to have any fine control.
