Arggg, just went out to fill up petrol and lots of exhaust noise behind me.

Got home to discover that one of my v-band clamps is no longer on the wastegate! Bollox, I dont remember putting a lock nut on it - my mistake. :(

It's only a £5 item but so annoying.

Ha ha, got the inspection lamp out and found the missing v-band clamp resting on a water pipe below!!

So I've put it back on with a new bolt and 2 nuts this time. Hoorah, can go for spin tomorrow morning as intended.

All V bands I've seen have quiet big springs on the back of the nut holding constant pressure. Is yours but like that?

Nope no spring at all, it's only a 1.75" diameter jobby. With the lock nut I've put on now it won't be coming off hopefully.

BGW rulez, taken on this mornings little run.

I may need attend to him with a bucket of water and sponge soon, to put him out of his misery.

The twin tailpipes look nice to my eye, after having that single 3.5" exit for the last year or two.

Fooking spiders, my turbo to manifold bolts have stretched yet again. :(

Got to find a stud kit as it will make tightening the nuts up a lot easier. I rang up Owen Developments and they dont even stock them.

The best kit I can find is in America, but semingly won't post to the UK: https://www.full-rac...dware-kit.html/

heat expansion / contraction , or heavy turbo supported , any other support brackets for the turbo and exhaust?

Get a machine shop to make some up from bar to your specs. If you get stuck with that i might be able to get someone to do it for beer money.

Managed to find some 10.8 rolled ones. Not as good as 12.9 or inconel, but it's like trying to find gold dust.

I will stack a couple of compression washers on the shanks to help cope with the heat expansion and review alleviating some of the weight of the exhaust + turbo.

Not sure what shipping would be but I found these, also not sure if you've looked at the either. https://www.full-rac...dware-kit.html/

Manifold to turbo bolts are all now replaced with new ones. One of them had actually snapped, so I had to delicately drill it out. Due to space constraints I could only install 1 of my new studs, as I discovered it was imposibble to have 4 studs and asign it up with the cylinder head at the same time as the turbo.

Importantly this time I have inserted 3 compression/spring washers onto the 4 bolts/stud to help give the bolt more length to stretch due to heat, hopefully this will alleviate the problem somewhat. Will also try and work out a way of supporting some of the exhaust + turbo weight tomorrow to reduce leverage on the whole assembly.

The (re)weld on the exhaust manifold from last summer still seems to be hanging togther. Hoorah.

Made the mistake of dropping a bolt under the passenger seat, tried fishing around with a magnet on a stick but without any luck so far. Grrr.

A bar between the block and the turbo underneath would be enough.

Yea, there are several M10 holes in the block to fix a bolt+bar, but finding some way to mount the other end to the turbo is a bit of a head scratcher.

TBH, I think the problem might be due to the leverage of the exhaust pipe when going over bumps and when the engine twists on acceleration, so I might try making a hanger for the middle of the exhaust pipe to the gearbox/sump area. Or maybe it's just that the bolts/studs fatigue with the heat, they must regularily see 900 degrees C and peaks near 1000 to 1050 degrees as the manifold collector goes bright orange after 30 seconds of booting it.

I'll jack it up tomorrow morning and have a looksie.

Also need to put some new air filters in, that should give me 50 HP back as they were pretty blocked when I checked a few days ago. Apart from that It's going like a rocket (a nice and quiet one until about 5000 RPM too). :)

The Noble ones look like this.

They bolt to lugs on the manifold rather than the turbo though.

Would be a simple task to tig a bracket on the underside of the manifold if you could get the manifold off.

Finding a solution to support the exhaust was quite easy this morning. I supported the entire mid exhaust section with a Mikalor clamp, attached via springs and steel bracketery to a M8 bolt in the block. It was slightly difficult to know quite how much tension to put on it though.

I also finally put him out of his missery with a quick Spring wash:
