How much will a new engine cost for you?

I'm confused.
Why would you buy TC when it's built into your ECU?

Love the pics Nev, some great shots

Which Adaptronic unit is yours running? Dave has the tc setup in his and after going out with him works very well

Yepers, my ECU can be programmed to operate TC, but there is an issue with the hubs needing an inline capacitor each. The cost to get it setup would be much the same as getting this Polish stand alone system, and god knows how many hours of my time.

Instead, with the TC group buy, I can just drive in, sit for 2 hours while he fits it and drive away for circa £300, so it's too easy and cheap of an offer to miss really.

I priced up building a filter for the hubs, even buying the most expensive capacitors and necessary parts it was still less than £20 from RS and that included a case.

Thanks NOSBandit, yes it's not really the expense that stopped me, it's the hassle/effort/time and risk of problems.

£300 for a drive in service (that is known to work) is good value and if I didn't seize the opportunity now, I'd probably never get TC. As it is, I've been meaning to get it on my car for about 7 years now but still haven't.

IMO having it will considerably improve safety, and transform the car at/close to the limits so I can go faster/safer. Also I'll be able to use the power in the lower gears without the fear of spin outs in winter.

Hi Nev, the only reason I looked into the filter was to make sure I had myself covered when I installed the racetcs to my car.
But I am glad to say it was not required as I got a stable speed input from the abs sensors at a relatively low speed.

I don't know your ECU Nev but I'm assuming it has functions much like the rest.
In which case using the TC function in the ECU will give you much greater control over the car. The power can be back off via fuel, spark, timing or a combination. Not just spark (I'm assuming that's how this one works)

It will also allow flat shift, launch control and "blip" shift if you have the clutch switch plugged into your ECU. I realise you probably have no interest in these

The racetcs cuts individual cylinders, and it works really well. Adaptronic only cuts fuel or spark, not individual cylinders.

Nev have a chat with Dave, works really well and as you know car is no slouch. Part of the current ecu offering also and has launch along with other toys. Can be tweaked and tweaked for free :)

Not having a dig at the other product but for you all the options are there ;)

Useful info, thanks, sounds like RaceTCS could work more smoothly.

Thanks Dunc, I'm pretty sure I could set it up, but it would take me ages to do the research and set it up. Now I'm working it's more cost effective to just get someone else to install it for me and go to work for 4 hours.

It's done well lasting this long if it's the first time it's had issues
