Thanks Duncan.
Taking Nipper would be a nightmare, as he is certainly not a comfy tourer! Also he's currently having a new gearbox installed and a few other tweaks and is in bits all over my garage. TBH, I tend to drive around so slowly staring at the majesty of it all, there would be little point in taking a sports car and my t"rusty" diesel estate car returned an astonishing 67 MPH over the 4000 miles.

Hopefully that lot will keep him running for a few more years. He might even get a clean as I'm feeling the love again.

A comprehensive explanation with do's and dont's for getting rid of some of the fuel vapor stuff would be really appreciated
Every time I see it I take a quick lock around to see if any proper cutting tool is close enough to go beserk with. Haven't had the guts yet though.

I've created a guide for here: http://www.vx220.org...-vapour-system/
It's a dead easy job, and easy to check/understand as the final setup is simple and elegant.

AnytimeMuch thanks to both Josh and Alex (both VX220 owners) for coming down and hauling my lazy ass into the garage and sharing the greasy grovelling under/over/in the car. Also thanks to Simon Boyde for explaining how to hack the annoying fuel vapour system.

Ha, got those from all the fat pigs in the office last Xmas. Useful as they have a lip that makes them stackable, full of valves, fittings and bits and bobs.

The new gearbox is in and working (with sincere thanks going to Josh and Alex (Ormes), who both did a long day's stint with me in the garage). Had some hydraulic issues with the stupid rubber grommet in the turret, turned out that my old one was stretched by approx 1mm and hence leaked; Neil (Vocky) kindly sent me a new one which resolved the problem instantly.
I've also spent a couple of hours tracking my ABS light issue down as well and that's now fixed (important if I want the traction control to operate).
I've decided to cut the ignition by a degree (from 120KPa), this will allow me to use 95 octane petrol instead of 99 octane (which is often hard to find out in the sticks). So the map might lose 5 HP or so, but I am much more flexible on where I fill up now.
He's all insured and T&T'ed now, and I'm looking forward to trying out the new gearbox's characteristics, namely 7% lower gearing and back to using the OEM diff to allow me to provoke the back end more.
He's also had his yearly wash down with the hose pipe!

Thanks - you must have eagle eyes, though the flat 3D graph gives it away I expect. That's just a pic from when the application booted up, not the actual map I changed.
I've also been tweaking the cold start params for years, but still can't get it right, it's seems to be so temperature volatile. I've virtually given up on the matter and just accept it's a bit rough till it warms up.

why's there a step in the fuel map at 120kpa if you only adjusted the spark map?
Hmm, no idea really as I think that is how I got it back from the mapper. However the cell at 7500 does look suspect in particular. Think I'll plug it in again and check it all.
I have all the maps from the past, so I can load them in and double check/compare. I was having problems with the USB cable and the software was popping up error windows, it's possible I accidentally selected a singe row somehow.

Oooph, I'm loving the new gearbox, certainly suits the wide rev range.

Yep, its now got a Zafira GSI gearbox, so 7% lower gears. Not sure if I'm the first to try one on a VXT, but it suits my car well.
