Ah, whens that Duncan ?

I did try getting a date out of Mark Watts, but he was being cagey about commiting to any dates it might be completed by.

All sounds a bit Car Planet Racing, I'd go and get your car :P

Car Planet Racing? Whats that Tim ? It is mainly mapped anyway, so probably drivable, just they need to check the map is fueling correctly through the point where it was slipping the clutch and give me a print out of the duty cycles and a dyno plot obviously. Then all I have to do is hand over a bucket of cash to them. Anyway care to take bets on the combined cost of: 1. Labour for fitting the clutch cover. 2. The clutch cover part cost. 3. Set of 630cc injectors. 4. Mapping + RR time. The person to guess the closest can have a free psx ride in the car ;)

I did try getting a date out of Mark Watts, but he was being cagey about commiting to any dates it might be completed by.

Nev, for the record I was not being cagey at all. What I did say was that since we were put back by the fact that the clutch you fitted slipped meaning we couldn't map the we had to wait for the replacement items to arrive. They were delayed by the people making the clutch and not Stephan.

When we then got the clutch we got the car back together within 24 hours of receiving it, as I deliberately held some space open for you. I cannot simply magic up dyno time when I have a full workshop. It is impracticle to keep the rolling road empty of anything whilst we were waiting for the clutch to arrive.

What I said to you was that as soon as I had dyno time available I would get the car back on the dyno for you, but until I know when jobs are finished and I have space available it is impossible to just clear the dyno of other work booked in to accomodate one car which should have left by now, had there not been a problem with the fitted components (which were nothing to do with us).

The only way I could make space would be to start cancelling other work (which will upset customer's who have booked in in good faith), but as and when a dyno job ends early I will make the space yours. I appreciate you have been waiting and I will make every effort to get the car out of here as soon as possible.

Sometimes when looking at the diary it is impossible to say when the rolling road time will come available. I apologise publicly if you took that as me being cagey.

Hi Mark, appologies, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was having a go at you about the delays. I should have worded things a bit better to be honest.

I appreciate that the delay was entirely out of Courtenay's hands and want to thank you for fitting it as soon as it arrived. If you read my website (which has tens of thousands of page hits from the general public), I have given you guys and Jon in particular a really good write up and not even mentioned the delays. However, I do wish that either Stephan or someone had at least given me a courtesy call in the last 8 weeks to say what was happening and why.

Looking forward to seeing the first dyno plot and getting to drive it.

Cheers,

Nev.

DG

Yep, I am tentatively offering a 'big power' engine building service to VXers and maybe the Astra boys if they aren't too chavy ;)

Full details are here.

I have a couple of people interested already and someone coming up from Sussex tomorrow for a good chat and run through all the options, though I'm only giving him advice as he is a capable modder/tuner already.

Good news, Courtenay's rang me this evening and Mark has managed to get my car onto the rollers for another session. The map is now more or less finished with a few other things to get done on it. It's been emailed back to Stephan to have it's rev limit put on it and maybe a couple of other tweaks. Thankfully they have brought the power down a bit to 485 BHP at 7200 revs which I am relieved about as I've recently had strong information from 2 experienced drivers that 500+ BHP would make the chassis hard to drive. Apparently peak torque is at 400 ft/lb which the new clutch cover and plate can thankfully cope with. I was initially bit surprised to hear that torque is dropping of quite a bit from around 7000 revs, but I guess that's because of the compromise with my narrow primary exhaust runners. This was deliberate on my part as I knew I'd be sacrificing top end power for low end boost. This means the runners are likely to be creating a fair bit of back pressure at high revs, so I will have to monitor the manifold temps to check they don't go mental and melt the metal (even though it's good quality 321S grade steel). I haven't got a dyno plot yet, but will post one up as soon as I get it. Pip pip, Nev + Nipper.

Would it not be wise to await the results of your build first, so you can at least offer up benchmarks, as currently people have no idea what it's like.
