All the MVS wings are straight. A curved wing is a whole different kettle of fish to make. Their lamination is excellent but the finish is often a bit minimal. make sure you get exactly what you want there.

The wings are deffo not straight if I understand you correctly Matt. Pics here. To me that looks like a very nice profile.

I wasn't meaning along the just the section I was meaning a compound style curve along both section and the width of the car.
Curved like this:

Ah, I see what you mean now Matt. Does this horizontal plane curve add to its effectiveness?

I don't plan on going too fast either, but I just don't want clam/wing failure at any speed. Im just rying to over engineer things a bit to be sure. I saw a video of some track car (I think it was a Sierra) and a side panel came away at only what looked like around 90 MPH and it sent the car into a nasty spin.

Dont think so really, just allows you into the boot.

I see you're replacing the front clam. Will you be selling the original? Should be easy to shift.

You gotta learn how to keep it in a straight line @ 40mph first Neville. What happened last time you said you would tow me and chris to 150mph :P
God forbid that happens again. As long as you don't crash into me at brunters ;)

So the need for a new clam with the old clam not being sold, and the need to keep in a straight line at 40mph ???? Is there something not being said here or am I assuming incorrectly that a mishap has been had?

Ah, I see, I am hoping to convert my boot to bonnet latches so the boot pannel can be taken off horizontally, thus hopefully avoiding clearance issues with opening it.

On reflection, over the last couple of pages there have been queries which have been by and large. Which just makes me think that sadly something has happened. If an accident has happened I'd have a lot more respect for that person if they were honest about it

And on further reflection why are you and Wolfie seemingly gloating at another's perceived misfortune? I 'might' have crashed mine a few months ago, if I did it would be my business. I certainly wouldn't appreciate innuendo like we see here... What's exactly to gain from it?

Gloating is the absolute last thing I would do. I hate to hear about other peoples misfortune. Have you ever seen me gloat over such a thing?

Some minor progress to report. The clam + bodykit has arrived. My bodywork friend says they need a LOT of work in terms of texture/finish and also cutting out old bits of sideskirt and clam, and making bespoke fittings to mount the clam to the car. My Nitrons have been sent off for a service finally. I may re-spring them when I get the car geo-ed, depending on advice I get at the time. I think I will need stiffer springs, as my upper rear suspension wishbones show marks where they have bottomed out against the chassis with all the torque (!). Martyn from MVS who was supposed to be designing my wing seems to be failing to reply to my emails or supplying any sort of feedback, maybe he is on holiday but I have a bad feeling I may need to find another wing supplier/builder.

i suggest fitting the front wheel arches, just cutting the appropriate size holes for the louvres as you may have alot of wiring issues and alot of dirt and water getting everywhere otherwise.

I was talking to Sam Borgman (works for TDI) at Autosport. He is without doubt the most knowledgeable handling/mapping bloke I have ever come accross. He is the guy responsible for mapping Chris Randals race car incidentally. Anyway, he revealed something quite contradictary to what everyone else I've ever heard say, that VXes and Lotus would be far better off with equal width front and rear wheels/tyres! That is such a revolutionary principle it is hard to swallow, but he is a race bred technician. Anyone have any comments on this news ? With that in mind, it is tempting to go really wide on my fronts as there will be bags of room under the new arches. I think the limiting factor will be the rear, I'd be surprised if I can get anything wider than 275 on them, but we shall see.

Yea, keeping the dirt+water out of the area is going to be tricky. My initial idea is to use 1/2 cut OEM wheel arches, however I think this is wishful thinking. I think we may need to make up bespoke 'shields' out of plastic card or this alu sheet to keep the bulk of the crap away from the radiators and fuse box etc.

Why do F1 cars have wider rears than fronts?

Certainly agree with that. I've taken my car to him for a while now and it's set up beautifully, not quite the power of yours but still goes fond the corners v nicely.
