I had hoped to share the experience of the whole project, but these days I seem to get slated more and more, so have decided to stop. I will however be continueing my blog my updates on my own website which goes out to the larger community and benefits people beyond VX220.Org
Sadly a few people on this website have (once again) spoilt it for the many.

Nev - You clearly have a passion for your car and I respect you for that. But you can come across as slightly arrogant which is I'm sure or at least hope is not intended. For example, I once posted up a pic of my engine bay asking what a particular pipe / hose was for as it had collapsed. It tuned out to be the brake servo hose and I simply asked how easy it was to replace or whether i should just let Vauxhall replace it as it was something they should have sorted under a recall type issue. This is the exchange we had on my thread:
Wolfstone, the best solution is to learn how to do these easy jobs on your own car.
By saying that you are 'no good' at these things simply means that you are admitting to an IQ of less than 90 (the average IQ of a Vaux mechanic IMO). I would hope that someone in your career could manage to replace a simple length of rubber hose, or is that asking too much of the average intellectual ability of a diplomat?
Honestly, I am staggered by how much help people need in order to achieve even the simplest task. Shame on you.
Add up all the time you must have spent on the phone, driving to Vaux etc.... I suspect you could easily have done the job yourself by now in this much time.
Well that's really cheered me up Nev. Thanks. Did I really deserve such a bashing??
Sorry to be so harsh, but so many people come on here sobbing and begging for help without any willingness to do simple things themselves. It's not hard to learn steadily about car mechanics really, I've learnt huge amounts on here and by simply having a go, to the point now where I am rebuilding and fitting a whole new engine + turbo. I would like to think most people could do the same, surely replacing a few inches of rubber pipe isnt that hard ?
Nev - I wasn't sobbing and I wasn't begging for help. At any point have I asked for someone to come and help? I was simply asking if anyone on the forum knew if it really does involve the removal of the sill. Isn't that what this forum is supposed to be about? VIX's response (about being able to pull the new pipe through by attaching it to the old pipe) was the sort of helpful post that I was looking to elicit (Thanks VIX - very much appreciated. ) And you've obviously benefited from the advice of forum members over the years to the extent that you've rebuilt your engine. I'm genuinely pleased that you had this sort of help from members to enable you to carry out such work.
If it was a case of having to pay for the replacement of the pipe myself then I would have more sympathy for your views that I should perhaps have a go myself. But 1) this is Vauxhall's problem so why should I do it myself? 2) This is brake related and personally I'm not prepared to mess about with something that is so fundamentally important to my safety. As Rob says, we all have our strengths and weaknesses.
I'm sure you're also aware that its not just "a few inches of rubber pipe". Its about 3.5m that runs the length of the car and is obviously pretty inaccesible.
I think it is this type of posting that has a tendency to rub some members up the wrong way. I hope you get your car sorted after the 'mishap' and I hope you stay around the forum as you clearly have a wealth of knowledge that would be a loss to the members on here. But its probably worth you thinking about how your posts come across before hitting the 'Add Reply' / 'post' button.
All in my humble opinion of course.

If anyone is interested in reading about it, there are two pages about the developments here and here. There are some nuggets of info in there that will help any track day stars or swift road car drivers trying to get more out of their car. Sharing my findings and woes with the wider community so they could benefit from my mistakes/oversights/successes was the main reason I spent hundreds of hours building the website.
