By anti-rattle buffers, do you mean the thin rubber like patch that adheres to the side of the backing plate?

Yes (albet I think most stick them to the caliper rather than the side of the backing place).

I've put the new front pads and discs on after work this afternoon and am waiting for the tarmac to dry and my dinner to be served! Hopefully if the rain stays away I can start to bed them in tonight, though I think it was take a few hundred miles to do so properly before I can see if they are much better. Was pleasantly surprised to feel how light the front calipers are (compared to the rears). It was a bit saddening to take my partly worn Mintex 1144 pads out, if anyone want to try them out as an experiment/permanently I would say that they are approx 40% worn and I'd be happy to post them for a small price. I have kept them stored as pairs and they look in fine condition.

Braking with the RC6 pads is deffo a bit stronger, maybe 10% or 20%, fine for the road, but still seems some way off what I'd really like TBH. Hopefully with more miles and bedding in they will improve further however. Thankfully I still don't get any scraping or rattling noises still, hopefully this will remain so, though once the pads and discs start to wear I suspect they may get noiser. Having now checked/tested/improved just about every part (except the master cylinder) in the braking system within the bounds of using OEM parts I guess I have done all I can with the current setup. If I want further better braking I think it will be expensive as I would have to swap the master cylinder and stick a rather expensive setup onto each 4 corners.

The pads have bedded in further now and I am starting to feel quite a bit more confident about them now.

Roughly how many miles have you done on them now?

Hmm, 150 miles maybe with an average amount of braking. If it ever stops raining come round another psx ride and see if you think them better. Also I was dissapointed that you didn't scream on the last ride, I will try and fix that next time ;) LOL

Hairy, nobody could hear you scream anyway, due to excessive beard growth! Just took my step daughter's boyfriend out for a spin, the last time he saw the car it was in bits on the garage floor. His para-phrased comment when he got out of the car was "I thought it was gonna be all looks and no go". PS: The brakes are really feeling quite good now after 200 odd miles and some abuse.

Just splashed out £100 on 4" pipework and silicone bends for the new enlarged inlet to the turbo. Hopefully this will make the engine breath a bit better and yield quite a few BHP at the top end, could be anything from 5 to 30 BHP at a guess. Also this will allow me to fit my home made airbox with twin pannel filters instead of the temporary after market mushroom filter thats unlikely to be doing the job it should.

My st4 made about 20bhp / 25ft lb with DG & Dave's intake above 4800rpm so yours will defiantly see real benefits here Nev thumbsup

Maybe just 475 BHP, I think it's dropped a bit (maybe 25 BHP) since some pipework had some extra bends put in them. I am remedying the problem this winter before the new ECU and remap. Am gonna remap it to 2.0 Bar of boost, so should hopefully see something like 550 to 575 BHP.

Am i right in saying Klassen was running around 650ish when he popped that well known wheelie? Yes it was on a sticky drag strip with drag tyres on drag suspension....but still.. food for thought Nev!

A hard launch after everything is warmed up on a decent road could produce some surprising results

Well, the forecast is for 5 days of rain, so I have taken the opportunity to do some more mods that I've been putting off, scroll down here if you are interested.

This was to remedy the issue with the temporary and woefull after market filter and maximise potential for the new ECU and remap. According to another member on here, a similar Z20xxx engine to mine made a reported 637 BHP (if I remeber correctly) with the ECU I am putting in.

Fear not Daryl, wheelying won't happen on my car due to gear dependant boost control (which I will be able to program it myself according to conditions). In fact I hope to have several maps, switchable using Fn keys with an in car dedicated laptop. My intention is understand how to map my own car so I full control over it; I already have wideband in it and a couple of other sensors should allow me to live map it whilst someone else drives it.

Very much fact Nev...!

Though the graph had very little till 4500rpm then it just exploded!!! it is a drag car tho!

'Dedicated laptop with multi switchable maps and live data logging... I'm on that one myself as well ;)

Looking for the smallest useable 'Windows' notebooks to mount next to the ECU in the boot :)
