surely if you are sucking that much air out of the cabin , unless you have the windows open there will be a horrendous whistling noise through every gap. either that or your ears will pop and you will need to fit drop down oxygen masks

Hmm, you chaps do have a good point on reflection. I've just done the calcs and at just 500 BHP the air demand from the engine will be around 750 cubic feet per minute. To put that into context that is a room full of air that measures 9 feet * 9 feet * 9 feet. As the cabin is approx 1/6 of that size, that it means the engine will suck the entire air out of the cabin in just 10 seconds !!!! :excl:

I think I will try harder to find another solution, though it is hard as there is almost no room in my engine bay for 4" diameter pipework. :( I might have to stick some sort of air scoop out of the bodywork (which I am not keen on) as my original plan of routing the 4" pipe to the boot to allow fitment of the air box in the there won't fit. Once the 4" bends and alu pipeing arrives in the post I will have a better idea of what I can and can't fit into the engine bay.

What about a coupe back coupled with the exige roof scoop? You could source your cold air from there and it will also give you addition room. Another bonus would surely be the airflow over the rear of the car being greatly improved. With the air staying attached all the way to the rear of the car would this allow for a smaller wing with a shallower angle of attack?

Hi Tim, yes thats a viable solution, however I would not want to loose my rearward visibility, so I'd have to fit perspex which might look a bit funny. Also I want to stop spending money on the car and the new fast back once its been sprayed and fitted will be over £1000 I reckon.

Sorry Nev had too laugh at this. I can see the headlines "man suffocated by turbocharger". Can you somehow cut through the rear of the sill ( area where the rear clam bolts are) into the wheel arch area? You could then fit an air feed from each side into an enclosed box behind you.

I'd drive with the windows down then use a snorkal for yourself. Who cares about practicality

How about opening up the floorplan just behind the cabin. If you're sucking that much air from under the car it'll be glued to the road!

Finger in air I'd suggest you are going to get many many times more air in through the 'ears' than sucking in from the cabin surely?

Thankfully I have been able to just fit the pipework so it pulls air from the boot now (instead of the cabin)... pics + update here.

The 4" pipework is immense, it is almost the same cross sectional area of my plenum. I hope the engine doesnt rock around too much and crush/damage the pipework.

Naca ducts on top but to the side of the rear clam? 2 feeds, 1 either side.
