Intake makes a massive difference to power above 4000rpm as proved at DG & Daves RR day, the std box even drilled to fk restricts above 4000rpm and the amount of air that 3071 must be trying to suck in freeing that up I'd not be suprised at all at another even 50bhp at high rpm thumbsup

Went for a long drive today, power delivery/smoothness is deffo improved with the mods. Considerably so, however it highlights the issue with the bypass valve not operating as smoothly as it could/should - the next job for me when I can be arsed. I have spare springs for the bypass valve and can reverse its orientation as well (which subtly affects the way it operates) but each change requires quite a bit of testing at various speeds/revs to see if has subjectively improved. Overall I'd say it drives with a similar 'difficulty' (or lack of smoothness/linearity) as a stage 4 now, though the RPM characteristics of it's power delivery is clearly different.

Installed my cold air shroud around the airbox today and tested it to good effect. Write up at the bottom of here.

Indeed, though obviously I wasn't boosting up barely, so in summer time when booting it, the temps will clearly be more than this.

That's the title for the paragraph/text directly below. Then further on down the page there is a new paragraph heading pertaining to the text below that. Its a general theme I've been using thoughout.

How would you suggest I do it? I do like having a title for each 'sub-sction' so at a glance people can see what the subject matter will be. Maybe type a mini example if you think of a better way.

The reason for the "07 - Update xx" is because the menu bar auto sorts, so the updates have to be titles alpabetically/numerically or they will be out of chronological order :(

The thought of taking the car to a mapping workshop and find out something is awry with the map worries me  LOL, I think I might even want to stay in ignorance !

Seriously though, will give it some thought. 6 hours of driving there and back from Bristol though

Why is of the only places to get my hair cut on a Sunday is the ones owner by kosovans. Now dont get me wrong they do a decent job, all be it not what you ask and usually end up looking like them but if I'm going to pay my £5.50 I want to get £5.49 worth of pretty ladies breasts in the back of my head :(

Will have to wait till tomorrow now

God, I must have spent at least 1.5 hours responding to people's enquiries about various questions/parts/matters via email, PMs, SMS and phone calls this evening. On top of that I've got Harry Hornet coming to stay on Monday. I expect Im gonna have a hangover on Tues! Have decided to go for a 3.5" or 4" exhaust, and am getting a quote for it on Monday hopefully.

Rang up Bristol Exhausts for a quote for a bigger diameter exhaust today and got a bit of a shock ! 3.5" exhaust = £1600 4.0" exhaust = £2000 Needless to say I am getting some more quotes. I have a local semi-pro chap coming over to my garage to fabricate a hardpipe from the IC to the top hat on Fri/Sat, so will get a quote from him.

Not sure if this helps one bit... but Merlin motorsport (Castle combe) sell all the pipes, flanges, joiners, silencers, cats etc., etc., and believe they will also bend to whatever dimentions you want. Maybe fab your own?

It's a good point/tip Alex. I've been considering buying a decent 2 phase TIG welding kit for the last 3 years but have been putting it off. There is something very manly about melting metal together which appeals to me, not to mention quite a useful life skill at time. However the initital outlay for a the welder, gas, bottle, consumables, gloves, pedal, mask etc is around £1000 and after that it's no certainty that I would be able to weld decently for some time as it is quite a tough skill to learn. Lastly, if you buy a welder it also helps if you have a few other metal working tools, like a brake, flares, chopsaw etc, which all take up precious room in my garage. When the local guy comes on Fri or Sat to weld/create my new boost pipe, I'm gonna watch him and ask to have a go on some scrap and get a better feel for it. I tend to be slow and deliberate about launching into these things.
