I used to get propper scared about front end stability at 130+ leptons, but with the wing and splitter it just gets more and more stable all the way and beyond. In fact slowing down to < 70 leptons is when you notice it most IMO as it isn't offering any help from that point and below.

What's the point though if you refuse to track it?

Because based on what you say, and assuming you are a law abiding citizen, you'll never need the downforce offered!?

I like making things that work well. Maybe should wrap it up in cotton wool in the garage and start polishing instead of driving it ;) BTW, I don't refuse to track it, I simply haven't had the desire and impetus to do so for several reasons. This may change, I might even come to the National, though the Pembry track looks really tiny to me on Googlemaps.

If that's a dig about polishing... You're targeting the wrong person ;) As for make it work.... How will you ever know? Pembrey tiny? Anglesey too far? Silverstone too.... Well who cares, it's just excuses :P

Pembrey (according to wiki) 1.456miles. Brands Indy 1.198 miles Mallory Park 1.36miles Cadwell park 2.1miles Anglesey coastal is 1.55miles Castle coombe is 1.85miles So looks fairly average to me based on the above. Although the m32 is longer at 4miles each way

If that's a dig about polishing... You're targeting the wrong person ;) Wasn't having a dig at you, I know youre not one of the polishing brigade.

As for make it work.... How will you ever know? Secret squirrel, tomorrow will blow the cob webs off though ;)

Pembrey tiny? Anglesey too far? Silverstone too.... Well who cares, it's just excuses :P Well done you've read my mind - not.

After my last static test at Castle Coombe at 103.7 dB, there is no way my car will not be black flagged on drive by. I am trying to remedy the problem in the long run, but in the meantime I think drive by at full bore or even 1/2 bore would be way over this limit. I find it irritating that one has to pay for getting on a track and then finding the restrictions are more than if you were driving on the road !

Steer clear of driving on the road in Kent, Suffolk and Essex then Nev. Polizei there are fining unfortunate VX'ers with exhausts that give out more than 82dB.

82db is bloody daft; aren't BMW's all rated at 93db? Having drove about this afternoon, I was reminded that the local unmarked BiB are trawling Nev's local roads all day and all night...

Muchos coolio, I've just got back in from the garage after fitting the extra large throttlebody. I bought this from NickB777 a week or so ago and had it prepped up on the bench. I have written a bit about it in the blog and have a couple of interesting pics of it (towards the bottom of here) showing how much larger it is than even my old modestly enlarged top hat and enlarged throttlebody (only initially spec'ced for around 300 BHP when I was at stage 4 and didn't know I was going to start this project).

The raw part wouldn't fit initially (different bolt pattern (by 2mm)), but a bit of carefull and patient drilling and grinding got it in eventually. It is bonded to the throat of the inlet manifold with RTV paste which I hope will be able to stop the boost from leaking - time will tell (and I must remember to check this when it's on the rollers next).

I started the car up as a test and let it idle, which it did fine, though the lambda was a smidge lean. The auto fuel tabs will sort that out after 1/2 a dozen start ups. I need to leave it to dry now before I go out and test it with a bit of boost.

So, now I can shamefully say that I have a Porche part in my Vauxhall - eek ! ;)

I cant wait for the RTV paste to dry in an hour or two so I can go for a blast before tomorrow's rain arrives.

nothing wrong with Porsche Bosch parts . Is the height of the new TB taller or shorter than original , I figured it would be taller to allow the larger diameter butterfly to rotate within its enclosure.

The TB itself is about the same, however the new tophat (a 76mm I/D silcone bend) is larger, so the boot lid now closes with approx 5mm of clearance.

What exactly do you want to change on the map Steve? Is it just a case of wanting a new more local mapper who charges less in general, or do you have a specific list of changes you want?

I've just had an email from my mapper with some interesting revelations after processing all the metrics he recorded the other day from our road runs.

I have written about these at the bottom of here.

I need to stress that these are preliminary findings at the moment, so not verified entirely yet, however they are annoying if true...

I'd want to confront them about it. I know it'd get you nowhere but it would make me feel better letting them know you know what they did!!!

Did you also test the static fuel pressure at the valve?
