Will your new tuners be able to do a remap with the larger injectors?

Did you also test the static fuel pressure at the valve?
In a word 'no' (hence my caveat above saying this has not yet been substanciated). I've updated things on the blog to make this clearer.

Yep, he is a very clever guy and tunes race cars most of us can't even dream of driving.

I'd want to confront them about it. I know it'd get you nowhere but it would make me feel better letting them know you know what they did!!!
I've had enough confrontation on this website to last a lifetime, so I won't be doing that. They are a good company for stage 1,2,3,4 etc, but I think project Nipper was a bit OTT for them. The whole thing was a bit of a suprise for them I think, mistakes happen, I have to move forward and at least the engine is still fine. :)

First dibs on your injectors!
LOL you vulture! TBH I am finding the car scary fast now, so have decided to keep the current injectors (even though they are maxed out) and just increase the MAF to 4". FPR will be set to 5.0 Bar (if it's not there already) and boost limited to 2 Bar. This will keep the fuel rail at 7.0 Bar dynamic pressure which the 044 pump can just about keep up with.

You will see the performance of a Bosch 044 fuel pump drop off considerably once fuel pressure exceeds 5 bar.
You will need either two 044 pumps or one 413 (£480 + vat) has the same capacity as an 044 upto 8 bar.
The 413 is identical in size and has the same fittings as an 044.

PS can you tell me where I can buy one of those woolly jumpers ?

I'd start looking in Oxfam, British Heart Foundation or Age Concern.

I've been looking at the TB and 90' setup and I am surprised you get it all to fit with the original boot lid. The fuel rail is different, I could not see the usual valve for a gauge.

The fuel rail is OEM and deffo has the schraeder valve connection on it - it must be out of sight of whatever pic you saw. The TB and silicon tophat do fit quite reasonably and there is room for the engine to twist/rotate. I am itching for the rain to stop so I can take it for a test drive and see how it feels.

If this mod works well, the old re-bored (larger) 62 mm throttle body and also my super large 76 mm top hat will be up for sale. Both good for around 450 BHP before they cause a bottle neck.

All this phase 2 work on Nipper means that some of his old uprated parts that helped him make 485 BHP are up for sale:

Larger throttle body.
Larger top hat.
Larger inlet pipe to turbo.
Bypass valve to stop 'turbo turkey' sound and jolting.
3" exhaust system, with 450 BHP rated race cat.

If you put that lot on your stage 4 car in conjunction with a Klassen inlet manifold you will get 330 BHP (if your rods can cope).

God, it's fricking raining again. Have given up trying to contact my mapper to install the 4" MAF and do some road calibration. Bloody depressing.

For about 30 mins... I can see the next black clouds rolling towards me  It's so annoying, I still havent even had a single dry opportunity to test my mods from last weekend.

Managed to nip out this evening as the roads were just moist rather than sopping wet for the first time in about 10 days. I got the revs up to around 6000 and the new 70mm throttle body has a noticable effect on smoothing the power delivery. The idle and low rev stuff seems slightly better which is not what I had expected - strange.

Just spoke to my mapper and we have a plan - hoorah. I will wait for my honeycomb mesh to arrive from USA and install it in the 4" MAF (just before the sensor) and then hand the car over to him for approx a week so he can road dyno it and keep flashing the map until it's driving smoothly and fueling correctly. At a guess I think it will probably end up running about 1.8 Bar of boost, thus leaving approx 5% to 10% duty cycle headroom for the 630cc injectors. Also, he will cure the over fueling at low revs and help reduce premature wear of the cylinders and rings. However, we are going to need a rain free week... so it may be a while.

If you were over fueling at low revs Nev was that with the 64mm TB? has the additional 6mm opening on the new TB without mapping just added enough extra air into the inlet to compensate & help the idle & low revs?

This time I mounted the TB with the butterfly flap hinge opening along the same line/plane as the inlet pipe, so maybe that has had a beneficial effect. Other than that, every time I fiddle with the car it feels a bit different, I bet the fueling will have changed a bit too as you say. Also the new top hat is a monster and really smooth and I ground/feathered the inlet throat on the TB as well, so maybe that is helping too. Goodness knows.

sounds good

I think I am at the limit now of my fuel injectors , which means new map + new FI.

1. Weight training - check. 2. Strong coffee in tummy - check. 3. Car setup for full boost as the road are moderately dry - check. ....broom broom... :)

Come on New :-) http://forums.seloc.....php?tid=349101

Hi Chris, I've signed up (donated) and am coming down for the morning.

I'm not even sure Nipper is safe to rev to the limit ATM, as I've changed the TB and tophat and know for a fact he was underfueling badly even prior to that, but the weather looks fine and I am keen to meet you for long chat (you might be interested in hearing about my next potential project).

See you Sat.
