Being miles from anywhere 'recommended' in VX220 world for remaps, we've got the VXT booked into a local company based in Yeovil next week:-

http://www.reidyremaps.co.uk

They are doing a full rolling road custom remap on the car (only mods are precat removal and a straight through blueflame exhaust system) at a very decent price. Having spoken to them on the phone, they seem knowledgeable and confirmed they check the AFR on the final rolling road run so at least we'll be able to make sure it's not running weak - always a worry with an 'unknown' remap.

I'll post up some before and after results after Thursday - could be a great option for south west VXT owners.

Just got back from the remap. Matt Reidy is a very helpful chap. He spent two hours customising the map for the VXT plus the before and after power runs. Totally impressed with the figures:- Max Torque up 22% (from 197 to 250ftlb) and power up 13% (from 186 to 213bhp). The torque curve is now lovely and flat (before and after figures):- Attached File  vxt_reidy_remap_smaller.jpg   175.94KB   5 downloads The extra torque on the road is gobsmaking. Only problem is that it seems to overwhelm the clutch from time to time. What's the standard clutch good for in terms of torque? Overall, very impressed. Matt does all the mapping himself and is fanatical about getting it right.

Anything up to 250bhp shoud be fine. Some (like mine for the last 2 years ) have no problems at that level, others however give up quite quickly. Clutch is an expensive swap though.

Thanks for the reply. Only done about 30 miles so far but a heavy right foot in 4th gear causes the clutch to momentarily slip after the remap. We've had the car from new and always been very easy on the clutch (car only has 10k miles on it) so it looks like it may have been a weak clutch from new.

Matt (who did the remap) has offered to redo it to lower the peak torque figure. Guess the only option is to do this or fit an uprated clutch.

You are looking at close to 1k for an uprated clutch including fitting. Torque figures look ok, mine is running 268lbft on std clutch. Could be an early warning to let you know it's on it's way out.

Hi its Matt From Reidy Remaps ltd. The torque figures on the dyno graph may be lower than the on the road figures as we only had one fan setup cooling the radiator, we have 3 more fans that will soon be setup to cool the side vents and intercooler etc which will help keep intake temps down on the dyno and will provide closer readings to on the road. You can see the stock figures made 187 bhp on our dyno and after was around 214-215 bhp but on the road its most likely closer to 245bhp and the torque could possibly be over 250ftlbs which could be casuing the clutch to slip. Another thing to note is we achieved max torque at 2700 rpm which is quite low with most coming in at around 3000-3200rpm. We have done other Z20LET engined cars mainly Astras and Zafiras, but this is the first time we have seen a clutch slip at 250ftlbs with only 10k on it so it could either be a slightly weak clutch from new or the car is running more torque than on the graph. I will try and sort out a clutch package tomorrow but I think we should be able to beat the 1k other places may charge to supply and fit. But id be happy to drop the torque lower down to save this clutch if needs be. Just thought Id say hi and must say james was a nice friendly customer :) If anyone in the South has any questions feel free to get in touch. Happy Holidays and best regards Matt
