Seen one at a meet and thought they it was ok tbh - is a GT not a lighweight sports car like the vx. Vectra vxr engine would go well in it and got all the lux bits
- cant remember what was in it actually may have been that engine?

The opel GT has been sold in Germany now for a few years but a VX replacement it is not. Its a US built Pontiac Solstice/Saturn sky in drag
What Wiki says
On February 1, 2006, Opel issued a press release announcing the upcoming production of a new Opel GT, as a likely 2007 model. The car shares the GM Kappa platform with the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky. Unlike its platform mates, the 2.0 L, 194 kW (263.8 PS; 260.2 hp) direct injection turbocharged Ecotec four-cylinder engine is the only engine being offered. It also features 18-inch alloy wheels and a folding cloth top similar to those found on the Solstice and the Sky. Since GM's Saturn division already shares models with Opel, the GT is in fact Opel's version of the Saturn Sky. The car replaced the Opel Speedster in the European lineup; however, it is not sold in right-hand drive in the UK, thus there is no replacement for the Vauxhall VX220. The situation is similar to Holden in Australia, as the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice are produced at a North American plant, which does not have the necessary tooling for producing right-hand drive vehicles.
Mind you there is one thing you can do it a GT that you can't in a VX

Saw the Pontiac and Saturn versions in the states. They looked small over there.
Engine is in the wrong place and looks arepoopersonal taste.

I would prefer the mx5 really. To be honest the Sky was not the ugliest car I saw but it just didn't do anything for me. I also feel that like a lot of GM stuff it was pushed to market too soon and could have benefitted from an extra bit of time being designed and styled for a more modern look and open to hybrid options.Saw the Pontiac and Saturn versions in the states. Also saw the Pontiac/Saturn in the states last year and loved it!...
Cost was circa $30K which (then) was around £20K, not bad when you consider a spec'd up MX5 would cost that here but is much slower with a lot less power.
If it wasn't for the present crap exchange rate, I'd give some serious thought to buying the GT version.

I don't like how the how the Pontiac one looks. (Roundish one that was in the Transformers movie.) However, the Saturn one looks a lot like the VX. I like it. Was the next generation not meant to be the Vauxhall Sky Roadster?
Move the vauxhall badge from the boot to the rear like the VX and I think it looks alright. Very Alfa at the front.

I quite like that, it's a shame thay have moved away from the small, lightweight, rear mid-engined layout but it is a striking car. Would look great on my driveway
