Hello all,

After getting some pm´s regarding these wheels, although I´ve never posted anything related to them , I began to think about organising a group buy for the VX220.org folks.

As the company www.vx-performance.de has also a special offer running right now (for the ATS DTC and Rial GTR as well), the time couldn´t be better to start a group buy.
However, due to the already good price, 839 € incl. VAT, the group buy price can´t be much lower anymore.

After talking to Uwe Regelin (vx-performance) I could get another 40 € discount if we order at least 12 sets of wheels.

So from 12 sets upwards the price for a wheel set would be

799 € + 90€ shipment costs to the UK
std. Color is Silver, like on the first picture below.
for additional 50 € you can have them in black (satin or gloss) or white

EDIT: actual rate from www.oanda.com: 714 GBP + 80 GBP for shipment special color 45 GBP

another possibility reg. shipment would be to send over one big package of wheels to 1 central adress in the UK.
However, then distribution would have to be done by someone of you guys.
Not sure if this is an option at all?

So now some more details on the wheels

Sizes:

Fr 7,5 x 17 ET20
Rr 9,0 x 17 ET30

4 centre caps will be included, they look like those on the picture of the vx-performance page:

java script:popupWindow('http://www.vx-performance.de/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=115')

For the organisation of the group buy I might get some additional discount on a set (depending on the numbers), but as I won´t order any for now, that will be obsolete anyway.

So....
Let´s discuss! :)
Feel free to ask or comment anything.

regards, Michael

Hello all,

Any idea what size khumo's they are on the front? If they are the 195/40/R17's that I have on my car then that car must be absolutely slammed, because I've got about a meter gap in my arch.

edit: I think I can make out 205/something

They are really light and as such arent as strong as oem wheels. Dont hit any pot-holes and you'll be grand :P

Bob, I suspect that car is riding a hell of a lot lower than standard....

VERY good point, I´d like to finally clear out a bit.
It seems that many people especially in the UK are worried because of the "track-use" info on these wheels.

It is true that they have been designed for motorsport use.
Because of that they have a good strength!
Also they have been designed for touring cars such as 3-series BMW, Opel Astras etc. al weighing ar. 1200kg ("DTC" is a former TC racing series in germany check: DTC).
So whoever thinks that a motorpsort wheel, designed for 1200kg+ cars going through e.g. the "Nurburgring" incl. very high and rough curbs, is not strong enough for a 900 kg VX220 in road and track use... well everyone can make up his own mind on this :)

Also I was using those wheels already on my previous NA, have done runs ovr east european roads also (really bad sometimes!) and never had problems.

The point on stating that they are "for track use" is only(!) because of laws in e.g. Germany and Austria.
In our countries it´s a MOT fail if you have wheels on your car, without a certificate for this car just for info.
So you have to do some "special prodedure" to have them legally on our car.....
Or you simply don´t care.
But this would be the same story with nearly any other wheel for the VX in germany.

So NO they are not weak.
the weight is good, but not superlight making them problems with weakness etc.
Surely, they do not have the strength of a Compomotive design (which is often made for rally racing) but for hard track and road use, especially in a VX ther are no problems with strength.

Also there are some rally companies using them for Tarmac Rallies.

Hope that clears out the rumors about the "only for track use ATS DTC" wheels finally?

Best regards,
Michael

@ Bob, sorry no Idea but most common sizes are 205 and 215 in front.
have never heard of people puttin 195s on. Not sure if the kumho is available in 205 AND 215.

I would be SO tempted by this had I not just purchased a set of satin black Team Dynamics and Goodyear eagle F1 tyres. Only done about 1k miles! Unless anyone wants to make me a VERY good offer for my current set up I'll have to say no :(

So a few words regarding the process:

Orders will be taken until end of february 2010.

From 12 sets upwards the group buy will take place, and the costs are 799€+90 € for shipment.
If we don´t reach 12 sets, I kindly ask you to purchase the wheels individually at vx-performance.

To have the latest exchange rates, I like to use www.oanda.com
However, keep in mind that when paying (e.g. credit card) the rate is likely to be different, so best is to ask e.g. your credit card supplier reg. the exact rates.

Before the wheels will be orderd at ATS, a 25% payment of the total price excl. shipment needs to be processed.
the payment will be done directly to vx-performance.

As soon as we reach this state (end of february), I will collect your contact details, and you will get all necessary information reg. how and where to pay from Uwe @ vx.performance directly.

Ultimately 1 week before estimated delivery to vx-performance (!) the full payment needs to be done.

Of course it is also possible to pay the full amount at once.
Might make things a lot easier I guess, but is not compulsory!

Production schedule is 4-6 weeks from placed order.
You should count in +1 week until the wheels will arrive at each of you.

Any questions?
Feel free to ask :)

Another addition regarding the available colors will follow tomorrow .

Now i have some work to do :)

@ yellow.....
