Glad to hear your not getting a BMW at least . I assume the merc is the second car, and you are keeping the VX? Also what sort of Merc are you thinking of getting?

Better today than tomorrow. The weather looks like its going to be foul. If you are after an E class, you probably won't want what I'm about to say. The Operations Director where I work is about to change her car. She currently has a CLK Coupe 280 Sport with the AMG pack. It is absolutely mint. If it is something you would consider let me know.

No worries . Having a diesel as a second car makes sense. I've a Mondeo diesel. Have fun searching. ETA That one in Huddersfield looks smart

Agreed, currently have a petrol 2nd car and it's not worth it. I'll probably end up with another hot hatch

I have gone full circle Petrol hatch as a 2nd car, to a diesel saloon for a 2nd car, enjoyed the 50+mpg, but the money saved on fuel was quickly used fixing the fcuking thing. Now I have a Lupo GTI as a 2nd car it can still do 45mpg if you try, which when taking into account the cost of diesel against petrol isnt far off, and has the added bonus of, its fecking awesome!

However, if you are thinking big exec diesel then I would be looking at the VW Phaeton, 3.0V6 TDI, 50k miles can be had for around £10k if you hunt for it

Hi Rob. I start off looking at fun things for around £7-£10k golf's, civic's etc etc, then i ultimately stumble on some German super barge for similar money and i actually can't make a decision. I like the idea of more metal for my money. Ideally i want an x5/toureg variant but they can't be had for my budget! I need to decide in the next month or so. Your mum had any problems with her s3, although they never seem to drop in value!!

She has had it from 6 months old and its done just over 70k miles. The only things she has had to fix on it in 7 years is the coil pack and it had to have a new clutch :S

Overall it has been really good though although to be fair, while it is a really good car I find it dull after a week driving it and want to get back in the Lupo
