What have you put in the door hinges fred?

Just wooden chocks wrapped in cloth to hold the door open while cleaning :)

Gary i prefer the tan and red to my own white leather but thats more me in 10 years time, im still to young for subtle touches - ill grow out of it though i promise

syep2001, i cut mats for my own car, if you'd have had the car 2 weeks later i did plan on making some lol its easy enough to cut mats and get a carpet shop to bind the edges for about a fiver if you get desperate :)

As for adding warmth and reducing road noise? Ill let others answer ;)

Finally got round to fitting one of Freds carpet sets today and they really are top quality product. They transform the interior of the vx and even had the blessing of Mrs Bodger who remarked "it's almost like a proper car now." High praise indeed. Thanks Fred chinky chinky

Just wanted to say my set arrived this morning. Wont get round to fitting till Tuesday so will post a picture once I get it done. Carpet set looks great though, should make a big difference to the interior! G/F has also commented saying it will make it more of a 'proper' car lol. Taz

If nobody wants to buy mine within a couple of weeks I'll be having a set. The nearer I can get it to a proper car the better!

Does anyone know of any light sound proof underlay which makes more of a difference than carpet alone? I'll be buying a set of these carpets soon (after I've fitted the 6 or 7 things I've bought for the car recently!).

i dont think you will find any light sound proof that works, i dynamatted mine, bit permanent but it feels and sounds so much nicer inside now :)

Ok, cheers. Will look into Dynamat but thought it was bulky, expensive and heavy to do the whole interior. My VX is an everyday car so I'd be tempted to do it.

I've used this a few times in the past on customers audio cars... http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item56337bf070 It does need around 3 layers to compete with dynamat/brown bread etc but its good stuff. Ideal for a VX as you'll be able toadd one or maybe two layers - that way its not gonna dent the weighing scales to much. Personally i findthe carpets help a great deal with road noise and rattles.

if i were you just try the carpet, if thats still not what your after then i would recommend dynamat or similar, i wouldnt like to crawl under the dash to do another layer!

Hi Fred. How is the passenger footrest catered for? Is it just a case of taking a stanley knife to the carpet to cut out sections for the footrest holder. Also... unrelated, do you know what those red inserts are in that footrest in your pictures? Edit - Just realised they're not your pictures! Dab-of-oppo, if you are reading, they do look good! Ta.
