What did you use to paint your rocker cover?

Got Lee's mate to do it for me, either powdercoated or something!

But the supercharger I'm doing myself, just sand it right down to get a good keyed surface and then pop a few light layers of high temp paint over it.

Keep it slightly keyed each layer as well. Should be just fine!

so0o0 before painting, what do you use to clean off all the brake dust / girt / dirt? wouldnt it be easier to spray on rather then painting? :tumble:

I sanded mine a little and used a bit of degreaser (mine were off the car at the time). Most hammerite-alike paints will be fairly thick and stick to the outer size of the caliper.

Halfrauds caliper paint chinky chinky

Given the rather anti-EBC community that was a brave pic Neil.

How do you find the EBC ultimax discs? Planning to do all my discs and pads this weekend and wondered what people did to avoid the rusting on the discs that aren't scrubbed by the pad. Though I am planning simply on the OEM discs and Mintex 1144 or 1155's. Along with all the anti-rattle and anti-squeel extras that I have just oredered from EliseParts.

Also do you want to arrange another stab at exchanging the MMG?

This is an article i did for the DC5 owners forum, painting your calipers, it's not exactly what you want, as the calipers on the dc5 are already painted but it shows you the excellent finish you can get using Motip heat resistant lacquer, it's avalable from brookspaint.com 01708 342560, 1 can is enough to do at least 2 cars it's dear at £20 a tin but the results were excellent and lasted well. After painting your calipers it may be worth using this for a good finish.

All the items i used for the preparation,
Posted Image

The calliper lightly keyed with 800 wet/dry and scotch pad,you need to be carefull as there does not seem to be much paint on the calliper,i sanded down to the metal on a couple of places ! spent time masking up with old copy of MCN

Posted Image

Calliper had 5 coats of heat resistant paint left to dry then heated with hot air gun.

Finished article with wheel on.

A couple of points to note i took the pads out to make it easy to rub the callipers down and gave them a good clean while they were out. I also decided to leave the calipers on, as the backs were in good condition, so i only ended up lacquering the front and side. It took about 4 hrs from start to finish with quite a good result, in the end, time spent preparing for the final finish is well worth the result.
Please excuse the Honda references this was before i saw the light!!!!!! Cheers Mark.

No I bought some VXR caliper decals on ebay. The decals stay on really well if applied to wet paint! The rest of the calipers need a bit of a touch up after two years but definitely worth the effort IMO.

Standard AP's painted with Smooth Hamerite then raised AP logo rubbed back to alloy underneath - then polished and Lacquered..

Looks much more classy and OE than Red which looks a little chavy IMHO.....
