Yeah, compression test as advised, general checking over to if they can see the problem and then go from there.

I really can't be doing with another big expense to put this right, so hopefully it's something simple.

Didn't look bad at all, just a puff of smoke when booting it after a time on idle. Does breathe heavily though for an NA.

I can still drive it and performance wise it seems ok, it's just guzzling oil and stinks!

What grade oil are you using? Maybe it's just a bit too thin after the head work you had to have done.
