I cut the bolt out, then fitted a Rivnut in place of the original captive nut. Lots of copper slip, stainless fasteners and not too much torque on re-assembly and it felt good, hopefully it will hold! For a couple of the smaller ones where I was being a bit more thorough, I fitted a rivnut to a piece of Ally sheet and bonded this to the back of the panel (I appreciate it is a bit of a bitch to get to the back of the sill fixings!)

I now have rivnuts in there now after the windscreen change last year. You can access underneath with the interior sill panel off, it is tight mind!

I refitted mine upside down - though I used a hex-head bolt instead of the hex-drive button head bolt - with the bolt pointing up through the captive nut and used a washer and nut in the space in front of the doors.

Thats what I did with mine.
The captive nut came away from the sill so I replaced it with a bolt pointing up, a large washer either side and a nut on the top side.

I left the bolt quite long so that I can get a spanner on the nut and grab the end of the bolt with mole grips if I have trouble getting to the bolt head in the sill in the future.

Used a few rawl (rubber compression) nuts for arch liner fixings. Got pack of them from halfords, motorbike section sold as a pack to replace bike windshield bolts, includes tacky allen key bolts and plastic washers.

Remove the black plastic sill, you will see a small access hole by the door post, use a dremel and make the access hole larger (pics in my 'stage two sc conversion' thread in Projects section). HERE
You will then be able to get your hand inside the sill to reach the damaged fixing and re-attach another thumbsup
