Well after three hours with the car in bits, the K&N Induction kit is now fitted :D Instructions are pants though. It left me to my own accord to assemble the induction kit. It provided a short description on what to put together but no clear diagrams on how to put it together <_< It was a little frustrating trying to get all the bits together seeing as i'd never done this before. About 45 minutes later I had the thing together. There is a black hose that connects to the left air intake. I'm not impressed by the fact that it's held on by two cable ties to the air intake. I'm also not convinced it'll do much either. When I removed the old induction box I was a little suprised to see a small collection of leaves at the bottom of it. That must have done wonders to the car when it was running. At the end of it, I was very relieved to get the car back onto all 4 wheels again. I nervously started the car, climbed in and went for a little spin... Firstly I hit some local traffic so wasn't going above 3k rpms. All I could here was a strange sucking noise to the left of me. As soon as I got to a clear bit of road, I nailed it..... OH MY GOD! :) :) Car now makes a lovely growl when at the higher ranges. K&N + Sports Exhaust = AWESOME Can't wait to show it off at the next meet :) Plus Points Incredible Sound Minus Points Crappy Instructions and Cable ties around the left air intake I'd only recommend fitting this kit if you have some knowledge of fixing cars (learnt from an unreliable fiesta mk1 in my student days :P) All in all GET IT FITTED NOW! Pictures to come later...

Hi Colin. Glad to see it is all fitted and working properly. Do you feel any increase in power, or a difference in the way the torque is delivered??? Regards, E.E

I don't think the grin can get any bigger at the mo :) Car feels a little more responsive when I push it hard. Acceleration does feel a little more rapid, but this could all be in the mind due to the added sound from the filter. The sound it makes is absolutely awesome now. At low revs there's a sucking noise. At high revs there's an almighty growl and once you've released the throttle you get the popping noise from the exhaust. I don't think think the noise could get any better. One final test will be to take it through dartford tunnel tomorrow, on the way back from work. That should wake up some of the dozy drivers :) Only way I'll know if it's made any improvements to the car is when I take it to a rolling road.

I used to own a Civic VTi many years ago and my chinese friend from HK gave me his old cone air filter, I already had a performance twin pipe backbox on the car which sounded a little bit louder than normal but after I fitted the filter the noise was unreal when the VTEC power band kicked in from 6-8k, obviously I thought at the time it felt quicker and more responsive and the noise was excellent with the extra air being sucked into the motor. It wasn't until I was selling the car and took the filter off that the engine suddenly felt more responsive and smoother then with the filter on? I definately think these things work better when everythings been done to the engine to complement it. Regards, John.

the same happened to me, with my '94 Civic v-tec!
plugged in a KN cone with induction, WOW, great sound, and "felt" faster too.... then I checked the pick-up times....it was SECONDS slower... :o  :D

as said before, installing cones on NA engines no hp gains are to be expected, unless combined with a freer exhaust system...
I dynoed my speedy after the BMC airbox, and I got 147hp, that is as stock.....dunno before, so maybe 1 or 2 hp were added....but chrono-wise, no diff.
BUT..... the sound alone make 'em 110% worthy! :D

I don't know how long the engine will last though. I keep chucking it into 6k rpms to hear the filter ;)
