A poor workman always blames his tools... So they say!

So how do would you describe the workman who fails to recognise exactly the part he needs in his tool kit, who handled it whilst getting the other out of it's box?

My description would be: a fücking muppet!

So I know what I am likely to be doing on Thursday night... Having another wrestle with the engine mounts and that delightful mount bracket, and the infuriating arch liner!

I'm happy to lend a hand this weekend if you're up north. Should have, or will be able to rob my kid, all the required tools/ extensions.

Cheers for the offer Rich, but I am in Wakefield all weekend (combo of Ofsted prep and a wedding event to go to at our wedding venue).

To be honest it ain't doing any harm at the moment so might just have to get it done when I can. How's your car?

That doesnt fill me with confidence. A 30 min job for normal people will take me and stuwy about 4 hours... so if the drivers mount took you 2 days.... we might miss summer Posted Image

changed both sides on mine this week with the help of this guide chinky chinky I was obviously lucky tho as the bolts on the drivers were happy to come off without the need of an angle grinder! Its a pig of a job, only thing i'd add is that i took the intake pipe off the intercooler for easier access to the bolts on the drivers side and removed the header tank from its bracket to get to the mounting bolts on the passenger side. No more clang's after a heavy foot thumbsup

Tried adjusting the jack supporting the motor up or down? You do have a jack supporting the motor don't you? It'd explain why it's not coming otherwise :D

yep, cars on stands with jack supporting the engine, problem i've got is i have a 15mm socket which will go straight up the engine frame thingi to the lower mount bolt but its to short and is rounding off the bolt, the extended 15mm socket i have wont fit through the hole in the frame and is to long to try and put in at the top of the frame to get under the bolt Posted Image

also the top bracket bolts are stuck and have roken 2 sockets trying to get them off

further update, have now got the top of the mount and support out of the car, but the bottom bit is still bolted the the car with no way of me removing, should i attempt to drill it off and ifso how do i do it? i could get the longer socket up there if that orange plastic stuff wasnt bigger than the hole in the frame
