sh** or not a rr day would be a direct comparison to other tuners plus own tuner claims.

I'm not disputing that Tim. What I'm saying its frustrating that all this time its been getting sh** about having and on road dyno and not a rolling road. But now its for a comparison. Equally an on road dyno would give you comparisons.

And would the rolling road dyno proves timers claims? Surely the point of this is a comparison between cars because of the variation between rolling roads.

The banter about an on road dyno is just that I think, well it is from me anyway if I even mentioned it. No you're right, they wouldn't prove tuners claims more give an indication. The car v car would be the draw. I'd be interested to see if my 241 on tms dyno was anywhere near that as it was done about 5 years ago now.

What did they upgrade it with???? That can not be an upgraded, because the standard fairs better than that! Was the uprated IC one made from polyurethane?? 94c???? Thats got to be bull sh**. The z20let cuts power altogether for a few seconds at about 85c, I have experienced this with a standard intercooler!

The 94°C were real, logged from ODBII with Innovate device.

The uprated IC were the following:
- VX Performance, compared to OEM one:

- TAT concept:

- Stew (on the right, compared to 3 VX Performance unit):

I don't think there is something much better to do on the IC itself in terms of design and size, the biggest challenge is in my opinion to guide the airflow properly so that the maximum amount of heat is extracted from the IC. I would be very pleased to mistake and that the MMG IC makes a hell of a difference, but is there any comparable data for this? I mean IAT on track, after 10 laps with 25°C of ambient temperature?

BTW, shame we weren't invited to your French meeting, which track was this on?

Sorry for that :beat:
It was on the Bresse track:

Some baseline data for a standard intercooler:

9 laps of Combe including 1 warm up and 1 cool down lap
Ambient temp 20-25 deg c
Stage 2 car (245 bhp/296 lb ft)
Peak temp 106 deg c !
On boost for 70% of each lap

What we need is data like this for charge cooler and large intercooler

Here we go then - lets get some large intercoolers along and do some comparisons. http://www.vx220.org...ning-10th-sept/

It is not very scientific, but Daves intake pipe 'the stotts'(the one that leads into the throttle body) felt alot hotter than mine with a charge cooler at a Snetterton track day.

I'm not aware of anyone having issues with an I/C at Le Mans?

I was driving a car with an MMG intercooler and was very impressed. Watch Jimmy's video to see how it goes.

Personally, I prefer facts to conjecture. I wanted to record my intake temps to put this one to bed, but unfortunately a/ I didn't have the kit and b/ the ambient was well below what we would have expected in August.

Steve came out with his Scangauage, I don't pretend to be familiar with what he saw, but understand the I/C was cool enough despite as much WOT as I could manage. There was no discernable power drop off after sessions of 15-20 minutes, which were enough to melt the rears.

An I/C gives me what I need, significant power, at a reasonable price, without added complexity or chopping the car about.

I've seen the vid, committed was the first thing that sprung to mind. I also would like it put to bed, hence my post after Joe eluded the point he raised in Nev's thread. thumbsup

so it seems we need some .org data loggers that log Ambient air temp, pre and post cooler temps and boost (and possibly TPS) hmmmm Wonder what I can knock up
