Custom fitted fibreglass and MDF sealed subwoofer box with 10 inch Hertz ES 250 D.3 subwoofer installed. This is pretty much the largest subwoofer that will fit in this enclosure -- I had to trim off some cosmetic rubber on the rear of the subwoofer to make it fit.
Because it's sealed it's not at all boomey, but gives a nice warm full sound. Also, due to it being fitted approximately 3 inches from your ear, you don't need to turn it up and sound like a complete tit in order to get the benefits of this. A subwoofer is the best improvement you can make to the sound in a VX220.
Fits perfectly in the parcel shelf area. Front fully carpeted, barely visible once installed. Requires at least one seat to be removed in order to fit it (although since you'll also want to fit an amplifier, and the best place for this is behind the passenger seat, you'll almost certainly be doing that anyway). Stops the drivers seat going back any further than the passenger seat, so if you need those last two clicks, probably best to look for another solution.
