I recently resurrected the topic involving changing to a VSE and subsequent EML light and error code P0141.
Well having not tinkered with anything exhaust related (or than giving it a wiggle last week to check for loose mountings) my car has started coughing up the P0141 error code "O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2)" according to www.obdcodes.com ( http://www.obd-codes.com/p0141 ). Now before I go and buy a new rear Lambda sensor are there any particular parts of the wiring harness (not that I actually know what that looks like at the moment - but will learn) that I should check for being grounded (I presume this means earthed)?
Additionally what is the likelyhood of such a fault developing without any real trigger? Or could there be a more evil gremlin awaiting me like a failed Catalytic Converter or fcuked engine?
The fault only seems to appear after about 6-7mins of driving, usually 3-4 mins after the coolant temperature has settled to it's normal operating temperature (though to be honest it has only done it twice - out of a total of two journeys). The engine feels like it is running ok... no hesitation or suggestion that it is running in limp home mode. Also when I have cleared the fault code using my Scanguage I can drive the car home without the fault code regenerating.... This is the bit I feel most hopeful about, as surely is there was a more profound problem the two Lambda sensors would start fault logging like a pair of Vauxhall Technicians when they see the EML.
I have summarily been from helping Fab to empty his beleaguered shed, so therefore I cannot run my VX for a fiver . So will have to investigate who can go rob his shed whilst he is looking the other way with his Bottle of Red Wine.
Thoughts and advice would be most welcomed... oh and before I can actually get this fixed I still have a visit to KwikFit to sort to get the blasted locking wheel nuts off!
Many thanks... Chris M.
