A dropped liner is the worst case scenario and would probably mean breaking the car as a new short 4.6 engine is north of £2k :( Hopefully that won't be the case as it was bought from a V8 specialist (got the receipt somewhere) so I'd hope they would take a bit of care in building it but you never know...

Its probley just a blocked or to small a rad if its allways over heated, if its a liner then strip it and get some top hat liners put in.
Let me know if you do break it ;)

Sam.

Happy christmas and hope you all have a good 2011 chinky chinky

Finally got the new V5 back from the DVLA with the correct CC & engine number on, only took 6 weeks from when it was sent off.
The only paperwork they required was a receipt from the engine seller to show where the engine came from and its engine number.

My auntie couldent help herself and got a V8 badge

She has now done about 650 miles in it which is pretty good going with the weather we,ve had and since rejetting the carb shes getting about 180 miles from a tank of 95ron fuel. We still havent taken it to a rolling road and probley unlikley too knowing my uncle ;)
A few weeks ago PPC mag took some piccys of the car and said they would do a feature on it around jan/feb issue so im looking forward to reading that as i wasnt there.
Nothing more to report other than my auntie is loving the sound, the heater is great and the gaz gold dampers are a far nicer ride than the crashy spax that was on it.

Roll on 2011 ;)

Sounds like she'll be going too fast with that engine to be able to focus on it and get any pics!

For the first time in about a month we actually got to use the VX on friday to go to work in as my auntie needed the 4x4 workhorse.
We also had to do a few jobs on it while it was there
1. A new alternator belt as the last one was slipping, its been a pain in the arse trying to get one thats just the right length for the short amount of adjustment that we have.
2. Mod the thermostat with a 8mm hole to allow the cooling system to warmup a bit more gradually as it was opening at 82c flushing the cold water round the system and cooling the thermostat to a close then opening again, so you would get a up and down temp gauge for 5mins until it would level out.

I also took a few short video clips of him as he left work just so i could have a play with them in virtualdub, i got carryed away with the fade button, the car is filthy and the content is very average but it did sound nice so i thought id post it ;)

Video Here

A bored Sam. ;)

Edit: How do you embed videos please ?
